“Avoid this "hotel"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I was placed here for three nights by my company. We have now taken it off our approved list for other engineers. A shame really but this, in reality, is an Indian restaurant with rooms available. I suppose it would be ok for an overnight stay but not longer, unless you enjoy Indian food every night.
Good points, rooms are clean, warm and bright. Breakfast is good. Service is excellent and friendly. I spent an hour and a half walking the surrounding area trying to find a food source, preferably a good pub but this is a predominately Indian locality and there were no pubs nearby. There was no bar in the hotel so, unless you were having a meal there was nowhere to sit in comfort and have a drink at the end of a working day. I like Indian food but usually once every few months, at the most. Every night became a chore, forcing extremely spicy food down, even the Balti was on a par with "normal" Madras or Jelfrezi ( didn`t dare to try them, ha!).

“honest review”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This may not be the most plush hotel in London but bearing in mind the location not that far from heathrow - free parking, lots of buses and 5 mins from a main line station this isnt bad value. the rooms are big - there is a desk for working on. the rooms are clean and I have had some of the best curry ever. The price is very reasonable and the staff are very helpful & friendly.

“A pleasurable experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

It would never have crossed my mind to book into the Mehfil hotel when I was planning to attend a wedding in Southall had a friend not made the booking on my behalf. His reasoning was quite sound, why spend two or three times as much to stay near Heathrow when there was an adequate Hotel within walking Distance to the wedding venue.

It turned out that the Mehfil was more than adequate as I first found out when I turned into their on-site secure Car Park which was locked at night. There was an entrance to the hotel direct from the Car Park which allowed easy movement of luggage between the car and the lift. Inexplicably, check-in was far slower than it needed to be, nevertheless, the staff were pleasant. Internet connection is chargeable but at £7.00 was more acceptable than the £16.00 requested the previous evening at the Holiday Inn in Leicester.

The ground floor of the hotel is largely taken up with its own Indian Restaurant and although there are a couple of chairs in the reception room there is not a designated lounge and the hotel bar is incorporated into the restaurant.

My friend had asked for a quiet room so we were given the key to a 3rd floor which was a large room, simply but adequately appointed with wardrobe and desk as well as a reasonably comfortable double bed and bedside tables. The shower room was also quite acceptable. Any fear that I might have had about the room smelling of Indian food was ill-founded.

I love Indian food and would have enjoyed the opportunity of eating in their restaurant but as we were only staying the one night that wasn’t possible. Breakfast the following morning did allow for the choice of an Indian or an English breakfast. After eating Indian at the wedding reception I chose English and was pleasantly surprised at what was provided. The staff were pleasant both welcoming and helpful. The hotel is locked at night but I was provided with a fob that allowed be access through the front door.

What was even more acceptable was the cost - £65.00 for a double room with breakfast included. I had no complaints, nevertheless, there were the usual niggles that I find in most hotels that I stay in and that is the cleaning could always be better.

I would stay in this hotel again and did note its proximity to the local train station which provides a service to Paddington which only takes 18 minutes.

Room Tip: There is certainly no cooking smells or noise on the 3rd floor.
