“Great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2012

We are currently at this resort, having some negative preconceptions from previous posts, but have loved my time here, and very glad we followed a friend's suggestion. The staff have been very helpful and pleasant, the meals have been great with more than enough to eat and the facility is well kept up, which must be difficult being in the jungle with the humidity. The owner apologized for the sound of a chain-saw during the day,but it was a safety issue with a tree that could have fallen, and there are LOTS of trees.
Granted, with the screen/tent fabric, there could be a noise issue. Depending on your neighbor , one's time could be significantly affected. The only noise issue for us is the Howler monkeys, which is a unique part of this great experience.

“Disappointing.....at best.”

The concept of this place is really good, but poorly executed.

First off, the 'tents' were very spacious and the layout was perfect. The setting was nice, however, the tents were VERY close together to the point you could hear a neighbors conversation. And with since it is just screened in, there is no way to eliminate the sound. Also, there is NO AC, and NO POOL. Also, the ocean is NOT SWIMMABLE (they have a sign saying not to swim at the beach, when you get there, due to strong currents, and it is pretty rough. So as far as stuff to do at the hotel, there is no swimming, and pretty much nothing to do.

I would have given it 3 stars, but there was problem after problem in our room. The toilet would never seem to work, it would either not fill with water, or the obnoxious sound if the tank filling would not stop (keeping me up at night). Also, the bed linens and towels were badly stained.

Next problem is the included meals. Do not factor in the included meals. The portions they provided were enough for a 5 year old. After the first day, we just bit the bullet and went out for good meals in town. Also, in the restaurant, the mosquitos were HORRIBLE, so bring bug spray. The only positive here was the staff was friendly (though did not have a sense of urgency).

Overall, I would definately not return and would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

If you need a place to stay, look at the Hotel Totem in Playa Cocles(we stayed there last time we visited PV), it still feels junglelike, has a pool and swimmable beach, AC, well maintained, a GREAT breakfast, and closer to town.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, ask for a room where the neighboring tent is vacant for privacy and less nois...

An amazing place to experience jungle living. The cabins or tree houses are clean and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and food was great. Loved it.

“The worst experience in my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Though the website gives you only little information we decided to stay for 3 nights in the hotel at the end of Oktober. We needed to pay the three nights before arrival. For the price you do expect a luxury hotel with all the aspects of a luxury hotel, however you get a tent with a jacuzzi just big enough for one person. Nothing luxury at all in the “pavillons” and that “luxury feeling” was what we wanted for some days. When we arrived we had mixed feelings about the environment, it was not clean, of course nature is beuatiful. We made a walk to the beach over the trail and it had several excrements of monkees over it for several days, so no maintenance and the same impression had all the hotel.
We liked to have a nice cup of coffee, but the only coffee they offered was a cup of coffee from a percolator (probably all day there). We decided to leave directly due to what we found and until now they did not return our money.

Room Tip: The only thing we can say is avoid this hotels, there are much better options.

“Great, unusual experience! Fantastic natural, lonely beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

This hotel is really unusual: Shelters in the rain forest, you hear the monkeys houl at night. Yet shelters have all 4 star comfort, jacuzzies etc.

Hotel and facilities are maintained very well though it must be dificult in midst of the rain forest.

Nevertheless, be prepared to encounter some insects (very few inside rooms, but many ourtdoors), and great wildlife.

Good is food, but fairly little choice.

The beach right in front of the hotel is simply perfect! We were there three day, and were all alone on a 10 miles sandy beach for most of the time. Once, wild horses passed by at the beach.

We found this hotel to be a beautiful, romantic place, great wildlife experience, and perfect beach. Strongly recommended for a short stay - 2 or 3 nights.
