We usually spend part of our summer vacation at the Novotel in San Lazzaro for two very specific reasons: it is very close to the area of my personal interests, friends and relatives, and it simply has the best swimming pool available in the whole city. July in Bologna can be very hot and uncomfortable, and the chance to freshen up, swim and relax in an almost deserted olympic-size swimming pool it is worth alone the room price. Rooms are anyway standard Novotel rooms, which I find a little dull but very comfortable. Buffet breakfast is very good and the young lady in the restaurant greeted us with a smile every single morning and remembered every time what were our hot drinks preferences. We spent 11 days at this hotel in two different times and we'll be back again. Only two things I didn't quite like: the old, small television set in the room and the young guy at the reception, a little too arrogant and not very professional, to say the least, but luckily, the rest of the staff at the reception was wonderful throughout our unusually long stay.
