Just spent another weekend at this property and what a difference to the last time when I was disappointed by some major faults.On this occasion however they were back to their best ,perhaps indicating some personnel changes.The reception greeting was excellent the room clean and spacious but the biggest plus point the restaurant.
Dinner was a delight good food equalled by great service.A comprehensive menu with a fine wine selection.The leisure facilities spotless and inviting.

With two friends we stayed on the "3 night New Year Package". The only negative comment and indeed, the reason an "excellent" rating was not given, is that the rooms were tired and careworn; it is understood that a refurbishment programme begins this month (January 2012). The stay was saved by the superb food on all 3 evenings of our stay and a magnificent New Years Eve event. A key factor in our selection process was that it was a 'black tie' New Years Eve event and 95% conformed; it proved to be well organised, the food was of a high standard, the choice of music perfect for the audience and the staff delightul. It was one of the best packages we have experienced in recent years and although a little more expensive than some, we thought it was good value for money.

Lovely clean rooms, massive shower with good water pressure, fast Wi-fi. Comfortable bed, great breakfast. I would return. Nice reception and breakfast staff.

This was a coach trip to the Thursford Christmas Spectacular which was truly awesome, but the hotel was not geared up for coach trips. The setting was glorious, the rooms were fine, the lounges and bars well furnished. Bar prices were steep and as the hotel is in an isolated position, we had no other choice for refreshment. At meal times, all thirty odd of us were herded into a large, dimly lit room and seated at long tables, seven or eight a side facing each other. The service was slow, some of our small group of six waiting to be served for some time after the rest of us. Evening meals had to be ordered, after breakfast, from a list of three options written on a paper lying on a table. The food was acceptable, but not brilliant. I would imagine that if you stayed there as an individual paying guest, with access to the real restaurant there, things would be much different.
