“Great pool, gardens and kids games area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We were in the deluxe room on a good deal, however was disappointed with very old rooms, no minibar and mouldy bathrooms. The rooms were also very noisy. It was very quiet when we stayed - however we were told we couldn't extend checkout as they were fully booked. Clearly this was not the case and in the end they allowed it for an additional fee - would have appreciated honesty in the first place. Food from the restaurant and also the breakfast buffet was very ordinary, especially for the prices charged. Having said that the pool is fantastic for the kids and so is the games area. Also the pool bar was excellent and the bar tender 'Linggus' deserves special mention - he made our stay there exceptional with his great personality and friendliness

“Great gardens, pool and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

OVERALL: More like 3.5 stars, this hotel was let down by the mould that covered our kids' room ceiling. Santosa doesn't have a compulsory Xmas and NYE dinner fee of $100 per person - this hotel worked out at almost 50% cheaper than the Sheraton when you considered the compulsory NYE dinner. (The Sheraton rooms would have been a lot nicer Im sure, but this pool is perfect for our 9 & 12 yr old. That said it wasn't full of annoying kids if you're wanting to avoid families on your trip)

ROOM:
We asked for 2 x Deluxe rooms ( in the 4 bungalows to a tower style), and our downstairs one was ok (the view was ordinary- garden fringed balcony looking towards other rooms) but the room itself was fine and quite large - 3.5 stars.
The kids room smelled of the black mould that spotted the ceiling and the bathroom had a nasty sewer smell from time to time. Annoyingly, the balcony and wardrobe lights have no switch - they're on all night and we had to call reception to have them disconnected.

POOL:
The pool was massive -the best we saw in Lombok, and the gardens and location were excellent. Pool side menu was limited, but adequate for the kids to have satays, rice, potato wedges etc for about $6 -7 a plate. More expensive than the great restaurants just out the front gate, but you pay for being too lazy to leave the lovely pool area! Plenty of sunlounges by the pool or just out on the beach - (but the hawkers will drive you insane - hence no one uses the beach much)

BREAKFAST:
Very Asian - some Western options like eggs, toast, pastries etc, but no cereals or muesli - which after a few weeks of hotel breakfasts may be all you feel like eating.
Didn't eat at the restaurant other than pool-side lunches as the hotel is next to and opposite some much better restaurants which are comparable in price or cheaper. "Square" opposite is excellent and the Taman restaurant next door was also good.

SPA: The lovely girls tried to give me a good massage and pedicure, but to be honest, it was a shocker - (about $19 compared to $15 I paid in Seminyak for a Spa massage that was amazing).

Room Tip: Request upstairs if you have a deluxe bungalow, possibly opt for a villa if you can afford it.

“A bad experience: 'Superior Rooms' are not superior at all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We would like you to know that our accommodation (in a superior room) was not good. The first room that they gave us was extremely dirty and very damp. The air conditioner didn't work and the bathroom was covered in mold and mildew. The floor was ripped up as well. I went to the front desk and told them that our room was not satisfactory so they asked me to go see another one. I was taken to view a second room of the same class (superior room), and I considered the room to be better since the air conditioner worked well. I said, ok this is better, and then suddenly was told, 'Sorry this belongs to another guest'.

I was then taken to see two more rooms. In the next room the air conditioner didn't work again and there were other issues so the attendant took me to yet another one. The fourth room that I was shown was on the top floor and the air conditioner was better. The bathroom was still moldy and extremely hot (maybe 90 degrees in there); however, the main room's temperature was ok. The doors to the balcony didn't close fully but given our choices, we accepted the room. (In the morning I found a cockroach right outside the large crack in between our doors.)

I have attached pictures of the room we stayed in so that you have an idea of the best room that we were offered. Apart from the condition of the room itself, the kettle didn't work and the bathrooms towels were old and frayed & there were no hand towels or face clothes. There was no hair dryer. Also, the building in which we stayed was under construction and had water damage. The deluxe rooms and villas are probably very nice, but the superior rooms are not good at all -- maybe a two star classification.

That said, the grounds and public areas of the Sentosa resort are beautiful.

“Good for $50 a night B&b but wouldnt pay more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We viewed the standard and deluxe rooms ($50v$90) and they were
virtually the same. Pool, breakfast and standard room was ok. Nice location but poor service and facilities (no in room internet or DVDs).

“Business + Leisure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

the hotel is supposedly a 5 star resort located in Senggigi with direct beach access.
i gave "poor service" rating because one of the reception staff gave me an attitude when i kindly asked for an extra bed (he was gone after i ask to meet the GM).
The lobby, garden, pool and everything in the outside was excellent and well maintained. however, it doesn't reflect whats in the room. Apparently i was staying at the standard room in the low rise which were the only building that has not been renovated. it was old but well maintained, decent space with balcony and bath tub in the bathroom. breakfast was good but with limited option for a 5-star hotel (recently upgraded to 5-star rating). the hotel also has a ballroom and meeting rooms to cater business traveler but failed to provide a free and decent internet. however, should you have some business in Mataram, this hotel (and Senggigi area) is worth considering since its only 30 minutes to the city. the beach was great and there are numerous restaurants, bars and other entertainments along the beach, main road and are within walking distance from the hotel.

overall, it was a good stay except for the room i stayed in. will comeback to stay but definitely not in standard room.
