We had a confirmed, deposit paid booking to stay at Hall's Country House on the Giant's Castle Road, outside Mooi River in the Kwazulu-Natal Midlands, South Africa.
On arrival, we found the entrance gate on the road, firmly locked, with no sign nor indication that it was closed for any speciaific reason. There was no bell, intercom nor buzzer at this gate for contact to be made with the property to request entry. We called the telephone number quoted in their confirmation to us, with no reponse and no facility to leave a message. We had with us the current issue of the highly respected 'Midlands Meander' guide in which they are listed, and here we found a cellphone number and fax number, both of which we called, again with no response nor message facility. It was now dark and we were stranded, and after several calls to accommodation establishments in the area, eventually secured alternative acommodation. In spite of emailed requests, requesting s refund of our deposit, and at the very least, an explanation of why we were subjected to this treatment, we have not had the courtesy of a reply, and needless to say, no refund of our deposit. We find it sad that all that is promised on their wbsite: www.hallscountryhouse.com and in their "Midlands Meander' listing, obviously just cannot be believed.
