This guest house has, I believe, been missold by the proprieters. It is claimed to be a 4* country house with restaurant but I would rate it as 2*. The quality of the room we were given was very reasonable - large room and comfy bed - but the bathroom was very dated, with mouldy windows and the cheapest possible bottles of soap, shampoo etc (home-made with handwritten labels). However, that was the least of the problems. Reception when we arrived nearly made me drive away. Two VERY large white alsation dogs met us - with a lot of barking - which was unerving as they were large and threatening (and they were a permanent fixture in the guest quarters - following you into the bar and the restaurant). I do not want to be smelt or barked at by dogs in what is supposed to be a hotel. And dogs in the restaurant is not clean (especially not large, longhaired dogs). For dinner, there is no choice of menu - the owner just decides what she is cooking and then tells you that night what you're having. So "restaurant" is an inappropriate description. Nor does she have any prices for any of the food or alcohol she sells you in the bar or restaurant so you either have to ask (embarrassing) or get a surprise when you check out and see the bill. Finally, and most annoying, was the fact that the owner would come and interrupt your conversation six or seven times (no exaggeration) during breakfast and during dinner with comments about how wonderful her cooking was, and how fresh all the ingredients were. By the second day I dreaded going to breakfast/dinner as she would be ready to talk at us throughout the meal. Not professional. If I'd known of an alternative nearby that had vacancies I would have had no hesitation in checking out early.
