We wanted to go on an extended weekend trip not too far from Delhi. This seemed a good option to start with.
The drive from Delhi to Pinjore (most of it on NH1) is pretty smooth. We started from Delhi around 5 am & after some traffic bottlenecks near the Delhi border, the drive was pretty much smooth (Karnal, Panchkula etc.). The last 30 kilometres just before Nalagarh "fort" were not very good. The last hundred metres is a steep climb to reach the main gates of the fort.
It is situated at the border between Punjab & Himachal Pradesh near the foothills of the Shivalik hills. So, there's lots of hills with greenery on 3 sides of the fort. The view of the village lights fron the terrace of the fort was pretty good. You can sit at the terrace, enjoy your drinks & snacks and the view. For photography enthusiasts, there are lots of nooks and corners to explore and to snap different views from the vantage points in the fort.
The food options at all three buffet meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were okay enough. We also used Nalagarh as a base to visit Parwanoo which is within a 40 km drive from this place. The Mughal gardens of Pinjore are another place that you can visit while returning from there.
Room Tip: The rooms near the tennis court are the cheapest. They are named Vayu, Jal, Akash etc.
