“Relaxing vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Our aim was to have a relaxing vacation and some sun after an awful summer in Norway. We are not used to 5-star hotels, but tend to agree with those who claim this is a bit on the high side for Grecotel Kalliston. Nothing particular to complain about, but still expected slightly more of a 5-star, like some fresh juice at breakfast for instance. The room we had was nice and spacious (junior suite), but would need a renovation quite soon to remain in acceptable condition. The location is great though - right on the beach! There was quite a lot of wind and waves, but the nearby bay (200 metres) is perfectly sheltered even when the main beaches are "red flag".

“Fine place, nice hotel...”

Planning a holiday in Crete for the third time we were a little bit scared to get dissapointed by Chania region as previously we stayed in Elounda which is considered to be the most fashionable and amazing place in Crete (and may be in the whole Greece). But we were not... We found the region of Chania not less amazing...After 25 minites ride from the airport which is small and not at all overcrowded we arrived in this cozy and charming hotel belonging to the Grecotel chain. Being the members of the Grecotel privilege club we informed the hotel management about the date of our arrival in advance asking for a quiet room with the excellent sea view. This was done perfectly well. The room was very comfortable and clean with a large balcony facing the sea. The sandy beach and the sea near the hotel are one of the best I've ever seen. Plenty of sunbeds and in spite of the fact that the hotel was full you can always find a sunbed at any time and not only in the morning. The same near the swimming pools (there are two ot them). The food in the restaurant (we had half board) was good, may be not always various but of excellent quality and very tasty. The staff is excellent everywhere, always friendly and smiling, ready to help in any situation.
I should mention particularly that in spite of the difficult economic situation in Greece Grecotel maintains the high standards and quality of service. If we come to Greece for a holiday once again we'll stay in Grecotel hotel onl

Room Tip: The best for the reasonable price is junior or executive suite, not the ground floor. The all face th...

“Horrible Hotel. I think this Grecotel chain is bankrott”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Few Pros and a lot of Contras:
I start with the Pros:
1. Breakfast Staff
2. That's all
Contras:
1. Rooms needs urgently maintenance. See pics. For myself this hotel deserves max.3 stars.
2. Hard bed. Squeal by every single moviment.
3. Management is unable to help you if you need some assistance. You are just a number. No personnel touch at all. Lot of mock and nothing behind.
4. Very, very bad isolated rooms. Impossible to sleep after 6.30 in the morning.
5. Lot of screaming babys. For young couples and singles absolutely disturbing!!!!.
6. If do you want to catch a sunbed after 8 AM forget it. The retired people put the towels already at 7 AM to block the sunbeds. You have to go somewhere else. Lucky you!
7. No Glamour at all. If do you think you will have the 5 star standard, go somewhere else. The hotel concept is: As long the rooms are sold they don't care for something else.
8. Balcony without absolutely private sphere. Somebody is allways watching you!!!
I could write 10 more contras but i think you got it!
Have fun if you book with The Grecotel Kalliston.
Yours
Holiday ANGEL

Room Tip: If you don't want to destroy your holidays i do recommend Alcanea Hotel in Chania.

“Another Grecotel gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

Having stayed in several Grecotel hotels before I could say that this is one of the best hotels of this chain. Great location, nice premises, good food, excellent staff.

“Will be returning for our 4th visit!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We would like to thank Mr Lentaris The General Manager and all his wonderful staff for making our holiday once again so very good. How anybody can say the staff are unfriendly is just absolutely ridiculous as they are the ones that make the Hotel a really lovely place to stay.
Melina in the dining room makes you feel so welcome and there are lots of smiles from all the staff who work there.
So thank you again, we do appreciate your care and attention and will return next year for another dose or your hospitality.
