My wife and I just returned from a wonderful month in Italy to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
The Locanda Del Lupo was the last hotel on our trip and we can honestly say that it was about 25 euros per night more expensive than some other lovely hotels we stayed at, such as in Cortona and in San Gimignano.
We found the staff at Del Lupo to be very warm, friendly, helpful and outgoing. We had dinner the first night in the hotel dining room and we were pleased with the five-course meal it offered.
Our room and bathroom (with modern amenities)were quite large and comfortable and overlooked the inner courtyard. However, my wife felt it lacked "warmth", insofar as needing some wallpaper, paintings, whatever. We disagree on this point. It's not a biggie.
The town of Soragna itself does not seem to offer much to keep us there, but we spent an afternoon in the lovely spa town of Salsomaggiore, some 15 miles down the road. We also visited the Ferrari museum in Maranello, which is about an hour's drive from Soragna, and a true highlight for any car buff.
All in all, our stay was pleasant, but we would not return to that region. Too far from everything for day-trips. If you need to stay in this region, Salsomaggiore is a better choice.

We did not stay at the hotel although I have heard that as an hotel it is rather ok, but we have dined at locanda del Lupo and its definitely an experience to FORGET..the service was horrible despite the silver plates and silverware which makes the 'ambience' look rather smart, and highers your expectation . The staff is inexperienced and rude, especially the maitre D.We had to wait 2 hours and a half for our two courses dinner to be served..and we left half way through our 40 minutes wait for the dessert. the maitre D actualy admitted that the kitchen had forgotten our order ..too bad he forgot to inform us about it. We had to call the waiter several times in order to be served, to receive forks and cutlery that would allow us to eat...wait 20 minutes for them to take away our empty plates while the waiters were busy dismantling the empty tables. When voicing our disappointment the maitre had the courage to stand up to our objective and justified criticism..so much for 'the customer is always right'...we advise all our tripadvisor friends to find other local trattorias or small regional restaurants which have a more familiar and typical and corteous atmosphere as well as better quality for money .Forget the appearance of the Locanda del Lupo ( LITERALLY The wolf's retrieve)....remember The wolf changes his hair, but not his nature.....and believe us IT BETTER CHANGE...................and change fast. also beware that the staff of the hotel is the same as the restaurant and believe me you would not want someone rude serve you at breakfast and ruin your whole day..................

This is an excellent (for European standards) hotel. Big rooms, very clean and really quiet (except for the occasional 7am church bells - adds to the character of the area). The staff is very helpful and we though the restaurant was the best in the area for upscale dining even beating out Stella d'Oro. Same dull European breakfast, but they did put out quality pastries and fruit. Our bed was king size and very comfortable, but beware of foam rubber pillows. There is an elevator to the upper floors. Hot water was actual present for the shower though the pressure was sometimes a little low but more than adequate. Considering what we had found on previous trips to Italy, the Locanda del Lupo gets an A+ in many areas. The price of 125 Euros included the buffet breakfast. Parking is in an enclosed courtyard to the side of the building and there is an open courtyard in the center with tables for sitting and enjoying the sun as well as a bar. We stayed for 7 nights and never had a complaint. Many small trattorias around the area (the best is I Trolls at Plaza Garibaldi...very inexpensive..try the truffle gnocci). Be sure and visit the castle in Sonagna..a short walk from the hotel. Most of the staff speak English.

i stayed in Soragna on December, 8th 2004. Nice hotel with old style furniture, very quiet rooms and luxurius restaurant, just a little overpriced.
