Our first impression of the hotel was great, as due to delayed flights we were going to arrive at the hotel past midnight. I thought we should give the hotel a courtesy call to let them know, and the kind lady on reception told us that she would send someone to meet us at the airport, as it might be difficult to get a taxi at this time. So straight off the plane, we were greeted by Aris (who we belive to be the owner - his English wasn't great), who drove us straight to the airport and didn't charge.
The reception area was lovely, very clean and newly designed.
Upon entering the room we were impressed by it's decor and cleanliness, it was simple yet had everything we needed, including two large double wardrobes. There was a mini bar which we were grateful for after the long journey. I checked out the outside area, we had a small terrace with a table and two chairs, we were right next to the pool but our terrace was seperated nicely with a low wall and fauna.
The bathroom was adequate, the shower was pretty much just a tap on a hose, not a spray head, which was dissapointing at first but was more than serviceable.
Breakfast was buffet style, typical greek including yogurt and honey, breads, jams, marmalades, also croissants, baklacva, hams, cheeses, and a selection of hot food inluding omelletes, bacon, sausage and mushrooms. There were also cereals available, and unlimited tea/coffee.
The staff were mostly friendly, although their English left a lot to be desired, which suprised me as on previous trips to Greece most people have spoken fantastic English.
The hotel was full of young couples like us, and was very quiet and peaceful, and we had the pool entirely to ourselves the majority of the time. The sun beds around the pool were very comfortable, and the outside lounge areas were lovely too.
The area surrounding the hotel is mostly scrubland, and it's a five minute walk to the beach. I would suggest going to the smaller Aggi Anna beach to the right of the hotel, rather than Kalafatic directly in front of it, as the sand was nicer and it was generally quieter.
