I booked this hotel on the internet for a quick weekend trip away from Athens with my husband and two kids (18 and 12). The hotel was a little out of the way, but we did not book it to be on the beach, but rather with a pool, so this was fine.Upon check in, we were asked for our voucher, and this was the first indication that I had chosen a 'tour group' hotel. The second indication was that they gave us the remote controls for the TV and the AC unit at check in, rather than having them in the room. They also only gave us one key card for the room. I asked for another and the woman told me NO. I asked why and she said we only give one key. I said that we were four people and would like another and she still said no. I did go back later in the day and spoke with another staff member and he had no problem giving me another key. Upon departing the reception area, a bus arrived, unloading a 'tour group'.
The room itself was fine. It was a two room accomodation with a small kitchenette with two burners, microwave and mini fridge and sink. It was also stocked with dishes and glasses. They left a welcome bottle of wine, that was already uncorked. hm. The bath area was large and fairly nice, although dimly lit. The bedroom area opened up onto a large balcony overlooking a garden area. It was also comfortable with four chairs and a small table.
In the morning breakfast is served in a large area and the seating was near the pool. It was very clean and was full of tour groups from 'the blond countries' (aka Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway) The food was not very imaginative and the quality was not very good. It was very basic.
The pool area was nice, but a little chaotic. There were stacks of lounge chairs and you just place them where ever you like, so they were sitting all over the place. There was a pool bar and the staff was very friendly and the prices were very good for what you could get there. We had coffees and sodas and were happy to see inexpensive prices. Also you could get sandwiches and chips for very reasonable prices.
There was a path to the beach, which turned out to be about 6-8 blocks away, not too bad of a walk there, all up hill returning. On site there was an interesting area with a beach volleyball court, ping pong table and a over sized chess board. (6m x6m)
Overall, the hotel was okay, the room was fine, not luxury, the breakfast food was mostly dissappointing, The staff was okay.
