“Comfortable Choice in Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. For the budget conscious, the well equipped kitchenette makes "in-house" meals possible. The swimming pool looked inviting, but it was unusually cool and wet while we were there so we didn't use it. The gardens are lovely and very well maintained. Undercover parking. It is a short stroll to Boat Harbour with a selection of good, reasonable priced restaurants and some shops. This is also the place from which the whale watching tours operate, so this resort is ideally located for whale tours. The manager was very helpful and even offers bikes for hire. They are basic, but OK for short trips. We enjoyed our stay there and can recommend it highly.

“Solid three star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

We are five adults whose sole reason for visiting Hervey Bay was to take advantage of the whale watching. We were looking for inexpensive accommodations and this fit our needs. It was a two bedroom: a double bed in the master bedroom and two twins and a bunkbed in the other. One bathroom had two doors with a separate room for the toilet.
Parking was free and right next to the unit. Kids would have loved the high bunkbed with its own light; however, the steep ladder made it difficult for us older adults.

Firstly our accommodation [Boat Harbour Resort] is 3.5 AAAT star rated [self catering] and well within this classification..We agree with this groups' comments on the particular villa which they stayed in. It is due for refurbishment to bring it into line with the other villas along side. There's only 5 family villas within Boat Harbour itself and they are ideal for families of 2 adults & 2 children.
There's an extra bunk in a couple of villas to accommodate an extra child. When 5 adults arrive it's not always suitable; where bookings allow an upgrade to our 3 bedroom/2 bathroom townhouses in adjacent Seashells resort can be arranged for an extra charge. These units are new and a solid 4.5 star.
Room /accommodation contents such as bed type and amount of bathrooms is stated on the website. Any questions on the contents and facilities can be directed through the CONTACT US link.

“Relaxing retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

Great value apartment in a lovely quiet setting. It is only a 10 minute walk to the boat harbour but further away from the main strip in Hervey Bay. Very helpful staff who can sort tours directly. If you are looking for directions make sure you search under "The Esplanade" rather than "Charlton Esplanade".

“Fisherpersons Paradise; great base to explore Fraser Is.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

We stumbled upon this place by accident although it's recommended in a couple of guide books as being a little different from the usual concrete institutions.
The place is built of hardwood [Fraser Island?]. The main building is just 2 levels and yes you have to climb a set of stairs to get to the best rooms, although the ones at the front ground floor are super too if that's a concern. There's family bungalows which our friends with children stayed in. They are a home away from home and are located further back each with it's own large deck and parking; heaps of room for boats.

There's no restaurant on site [plenty not far away though] but we travel on a budget so do our own meals. The room we had was equipped with cooking facilities enough for light meals and there's a big BBQ available to cook the fish if you are lucky enough to catch something on the rock wall. We cheated and bought some already scaled and cleaned from the fisheries across the road. Unfortunately we were too early to visit the Seafood Festival which is on mid August. This is just across the road as well.

The rooms are really clean with little extras that you don't always get; friendly staff and managers. Best of all it's peaceful and private; we needed a break from the city. the only thing I would recommend is if you don't have a car be prepared to walk or cycle [hire these] to the supermarket about 1.5kms away.

Very nice, clean and friendly place to stay. Great location to beach, bike track along foreshore and Hervey Bay Marina. We really enjoyed our stay.
