We were originally booked to stay at the Aparthotel Bellevue Hotel in Trogir but due to the water having to be turned off for a good part of the day, were offered the option of transferring to the Villa Rustica (sister hotel of Aparthotel Bellevue) which is approximately 5 klms out of Trogir.
Having made the decision to transfer accommodation, we were greeted by a very friendly lady who runs the Villa, who personally showed us to our room and then offered us free welcoming drinks, either in our room or around the pool.
The room we stayed in was in the new apartment building approximately 30 metres from the main building and separated by lovely grapevines and olive trees. The room was a studio apartment with a large main bedroom, a roomy bathroom and a small kitchenette, all of which were spotlessly clean. Furnishings were basic but most adequate, with the bed being comfortable, modern air-conditioning provided and a satellite TV service available. There was however no wifi facility available in the rooms but apparently the service was available in the reception area. The room facilities also included a small veranda area with table and chairs. Parking was also readily available.
In the courtyard of the Villa is a pool and also a lovely outdoor area providing tables and seating where guests can enjoy a relaxing drink and / or enjoy a meal. The pool however is not a true swimming pool but resembles more of a large splash pool, which was unfortunately not overly clean (i.e. water was murky) due to constant use and required a good dose of chlorine. Breakfast was satisfactory and comprised the typical continental style cold buffet breakfast, with the option to request cooked eggs or omelettes.
The Villa is also just a short walk (approximately 100 metres) to the local beach, which is pebbly but clean, with a few café bars and restaurants spread along the beach area.
All in all, the host was wonderful and couldn’t do enough in trying to please us. The only possible negative (besides the need to keep the pool pristine) is that you really need a car to get around to take full advantage of local sights such as Trogir, Split and the Krka National Park, as the Villa is a little removed from such locations and also from night life. On the other hand, if one is looking for a quiet and total relaxing break by the beach, sitting in the sun (with good basic and reasonably priced accommodation), then Villa Rustica would probably be ideal.
