I enjoyed the travel from Scandic Hovik to Oslo city. I had a good trek and that was the best part of it. The rooms in the Scandic were decent and just like in all opther Scandic hotels, the breakfast was excellent. that I feel is the best part of every Scandic hotel.

Was booked here for closeby office visit. Around 15minutes out of the city but convenient for my work commitments. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Rooms clean and adequate. Like most Nordic hotels, they are small. Most rooms face away from the freeway, so fairly quiet. Breakfast included in room rate so an easy system and no check in required for breakfast each day. Self - service buffet full of fresh and delicious produce - both hot and cold. If not driving, get taxi from city (although very $$$) or get taxi from closest train station at sandvika (Direct express line from airport).

The hotel itself was quite good; no complaints really. Nothing too fancy -- everything was standard and what you would expect from a 3* level hotel. nice breakfast.

There is a train station nearby but it is a good 10 min walk there and it seems that trains only ran every 30 min or so. We had a car so we decided to drive into the city. This was no problem for us and our needs (we were certainly aware of where the hotel was and were only staying there 1 night), but I don't think I'd recommend tourists to stay here, as a lot of time would be wasted getting to/from the hotel.

The hotel inside looks much nicer than the outside picture. The outside look reminds of some weird 70s era of metal and glass and I was slightly concerned about straying there. I stayed in several Scandic hotels and this one has one of the best rooms, however. Nice and clean inside, mine had a wide screen flat panel TV too! It's located right next to the E16 highway, yet there was no noice from the traffic whatsoever. I had a car but if you want to use public transportation there's a bus stop nearby and Blumholmen train station that will take you to central Oslo is about 15 min walking distance. The sauna inside provides a nice relaxation after a day spent walking.
