“One of the better Whitehorse hotels,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

You can only expect so much in Whitehorse, its a rustic town with its own charm. I stayed in this hotel twice. It is old, but well kept. The lounge is comfortable to sit and relax with a glass of wine (albeit the wine selection horrible). I felt safe and the place is clean. You can't really ask for more than that. If you go to Whitehorse looking for luxury, it doesn't exisit. If you want a clean, comfortable place with good service then this isn't bad. Their other location though is better.

“A Hotel for sale!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We stayed twice at this hotel going to and from Alaska on a road trip. The second stay was only because there was no open alternative. The room was tired, poorly furnished and it's employees reflected the shape of the property, probably due to the fact that there is a "for sale" sign in front of the property.. The hotel is owned by Holland america Cruise Lines. This is my first experience of properties owned by this company and I doubt if I would ever book a cruise with this cruise line based on this experience!

My recommendation is stay at this hotel only as a last resort.

We also stayed at the Westmark Hotel in Dawson City and it was at least equal to a Comfort Inn room.

Room Tip: Go to another available hotel/ motel

“Everything is expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

When your in the middle of nowhere, expect to pay a lot for less. We for most all hotels above the lower 48 have no a/c. Yes it's cooler but I need air, to get fresh... Open a window and hear noise. Most usually have a fan as this room did. Was just a stop over so only stayed one night.

“Lives up to your expectation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

The first Westmark hotel to our expectations. We had a spacious room and were little affected by noise in and around the hotel

“The worst Westmark room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

We opened the door to the stinkiest hotel room I have experienced. I don't quite know how to describe it; an amalgamation of years of old smoke, grime, body odor, and chemicals, maybe. We immediately opened the window and left for several hours to let it air out. The room was not clean; for instance, the TV had months of dust on it in an uneven pattern, as if someone periodically would swipe a finger somewhere across it, as I did myself. The dresser looked like something that you might find in a really bad garage sale.

We were traveling with a large group, and the few others I polled said their riims, while older, were 'okay', so maybe we just happened to get the one they only use every six months or so.

There is a newer Westmark a few blocks away, and, while I did not see the rooms, that property looked much more clean and inviting. If you stay at a Westmark in Whitehorse, I would definitely recommend the Westmark Convention Center hotel over the Westmark Klondike.
