This was one of the better Westmark Hotels we stayed at on a Holland America (HAL) cruise/tour of Alaska and the Yukon. (Westmark is owned by HAL.) We stayed in a building across the street from the main building/lobby which appeared to be the newest building at the hotel. The first floor end/corner room was nicely sized and furnishings appeared to be new. The hotel's lobby and restaurant looked updated as well. The food and service were good including a substantial breakfast buffet. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating.

The restaurant had a menu with several choices (especially for such a small less than 2,000 population town typical on this tour). It also did a good job keeping up with the tour crowds which can spike up and then disappear as the tour buses arrive and everyone has the same idea to go to dinner at the same place on the first of two nights there.

Dawson City has a small "Old West" feel to it with many refurbished buildings, a few broken down ones that are fascinating to see in their original 1890's state too. Be sure to walk around the few streets (all gravel) and sidewalks (all boardwalks) and sample the local restaurants for breakfast, lunch and an ice cream snack (good places along the Yukon river street). There are some interesting souvenir shops and information centers as well.

Only open in the summer. No elevator for our building. Not sure if other buildings have elevators. The hotel is several old buildings; most of them connected to each other. Our room was at the end of a long building and so nice and quiet. We had all the amenities. The dining room was really great. Excellent food and fine service. Amazing since they are open only such a short time each tourist season.

Westmark has done a nice job making these rather plain motel rooms look nice cosmetically. The one building is painted to look like several buildings. Nice size rooms with two queen beds. Nice desk staff. Very good breakfast buffett with the only good wait staff we experienced in three weeks in the Yukon. Mostly this hotel exists for Holland America tours and unused rooms are made available at a decent price. WiFi only in office and did not function consistently for us.

This hotel was our stop in Dawson City on our Holland America cruise tour of Yukon and Alaska. Our room was pre-selected as part of the tour and it was beautiful. It was a king bed in a corner room. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and spacious and bright. We were located in the building across from the main building. The hotel staff was very helpful and the pleasant to deal with. We ate one meal in the restaurant and one meal on the upper patio and both were excellent. The gardens out back were well kept as were the grounds. We took advantage of the visitor's centre and went on the murder mystery tour run by Parks Canada. It was a lot of fun and gave us access to several buildings not open to the general public.
