“limited opening times for pool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

very disappointed with the swimming pool only being open between 7pm and 9pm nightly.....due to the life guards being in high school....nothing on website informs you that this is so.....other wise we would have stayed in a different hotel.....kids very disappointed just as i am....usually when on holidays i tend to go for swim in morning before breakfast and then again later on the day.....

on the good side.....room was spotless and very friendly staff....especially the young life guard ...

“over charged”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

I checked in only to be over charged my room should have been 76 a night but turned out to be 90 a night, I went to my room and first thing I had to use the washroom as I looked into the tub, I could see hair and dirt in it, so than I went out and had a look at the floor only to see that their was more dirt on the carpet than their was out side, so I pulled back the covers to see the sheets, well the brown stains stood out like harvest moon on a clear night, so I phoned the front desk and requested that some one be sent over and do a proper cleaning, the female from the office started to scream at me, about how clean they keep their hotel, so when I went to the desk to ask for a refund they informed me that I would be charged 300 for smoking in the room, and that as I prepaid for the room (at their order) they would not be returning any of my funds. So I went back to the room removed the sheets, and placed them out the door, used a sleeping bag from a relitive and spent the night, the next day I found the same sheets on the bed. It has been said that this dump was redone last year, well my last stay in this place was about 15 years ago and the things new was the TV, same old carpets (with a lot more dirt), beds (saging in the middle), 60's decore
Save yourself the pain of this place, and stay some place other than this dump.

“nad what we needed but a little dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2009

It was very handy having the kitchenette, the batchroom wasn't dirty, but the covers could be washed and the carpet was a little yucky. We stayed in the motel part. The air conditioning didn't work very well. But it had what we needed, just not very nice.

“Like Bloody Matteresses? They got them!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2009

Stay here only if you enjoy BLOODY MATTRESSES. I was not at all impressed with the "Prairie Oyster" motel. It was dirty, the staff were only helpful in appologizing for there own poor service.

We stayed two nights, the first of which we discovered that under our sheets both our mattesses were stained with blood for what I assume was a previous altercation. When mentioning this to the staff, they replied, "Oh, is that all?". The carpets were also dirty. The walls had small but noticeable stains on them. There was what looked like chewing tobacco under the bed, and we found an empty WHISKY BOTTLE in our dresser drawers.

As we stayed in February, the motel portion of the complex was nearly completely empty but they put us in a room directly next to loud partying construction workers. Why? To save the cleaning staff a extra 30 foot walk?

Stay elsewhere if in Moose Jaw...believe me!

“Has it been renovated?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2008

people found this review helpful

Have stayed here for years due to the convenience - close to things we are in Moose Jaw for. But over the last couple of years it was starting to become grubby looking and not all that clean.
Price was okay though.
I would be interested to try it again - only if it has been renovated and cleaned up a bit. It really needed some updates - carpet was really dirty last time we were there.
The other reviews stating that a damage deposit is being requested would definitely turn me off.

Has it been renovated?? Are they still requesting a damage deposit??
