The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the trendy neighbourhood of St-Roch, just a 15 minute walk from Place d'Youville, Vieux Québec. It is a very tidy and clean hotel, but lacks in elevators, parking and restaurant.
Our suite gave us plenty of space to move around and live. The kitchen was adequately supplied with dishes/cutlery/pots and pans. The bathroom was clean, but not of good construction and had poor lighting. Beds and linens were fair to poor but we were able sleep adequately.
The best part about this hotel was it's location. We had a full grocery store accross the street, two bakeries, a butcher shop, an ice cream shop, restaurants and more on the same block. If you are willing to walk about 7 blocks east, there is a full SAQ (liquor store).
Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. They were very knowlegable of the city and answered any questions we had. They are bilingual, but if you know some French, use it, it will help.
Drawback of this hotel; no elevators, just long and narrow staircases; limited parking at rear of building, and not suitable if you drive a large SUV or van (you'll have that problem just about anywhere in the old city); HVAC system is a wall unit, which does a good job, but in our suite, it had trouble cooling the extremities; the bathroom was poorly lit and gave the impression that some week-end warrior built it. Linens were poor and toiletries were the basic variety.
Considering our needs, comparitive costs of similar accomodations in the city and location, we were reasonably pleased with our choice. I would rate this establishment a 2 star. Don't come here if you're looking for a fine hotel experience, you'd be better off at the Hilton, Chateau or the Concorde. But if you're on a budget, want to be close to the historic city, this could be the place for you.
