We stayed at Le Champlain Hotel in June of 2011. After seeing photos of Quebec City at Christmas, my spouse and I decided to return in December for a weekend with our college age children. Although very cold, Quebec City was stunning! The hotel was very clean and warm (very important in this cold city at this time of year), and lots of hot water. They also had a hot chocolate, latte, cappacino machine in the lobby along with a fireplace, which was not only welcoming and warming after walking around the city, but also a huge cost savings. The breakfast was very good, and my only complaint was that the coffee was not hot. Breakfast was omelettes, toast, bagels, pork pate, yogurt, fruit salad. We have also experienced french toast and baked beans in our previous stay. They change it up, so it's not the same every morning. This hotel is within walking distance to everything, and once you park your car, there's no need to take it out. Be sure to call in advance to reserve a parking space, as parking is limited.
Best activities while we were there:
The Marché du Vieux-Port (Old Port Market) – Best donuts, maple products, wines, cheese, stocking stuffers, etc.
Walking the fortification wall along parallel to Honore Mercier and D’Auteuil at night to view Parliament Hill, the Chateau Frontenac and the rest of the city – exquisite!
Room Tip: Rooms in the front have a very nice view. Rooms in the back are cozy, but you may be looking at a br...

Bonjour!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer to your review... You totally right, Québec City is a charming city during summer and even during wintertime! I'm glad you like to give to Québec City a chance to seduce you once again!
Our breakfast is really good, we have 1 or 2 different hot plates eveyday to accommodate all the biggest craving! It's more than just a continental breakfast... We have eggs, baked beans, hot oatmeal or other hot plates, depending of your chef selection!
Tips for people looking for a room with a nice view: You should request at least the superior room to have a guaranteed nice view! All our superior, deluxe and suite rooms have a nice view of the city... And some rooms offer an incredible view of the Château Frontenac, especially the ones on the back side of the hotel. Upgrade your room from a standard to a superior room to enjoy the city from your window!
See you back soon!
