“Magical!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

person found this review helpful

We first went to Quebec City for our honeymoon in February, 2005. We stayed at the Frontenac. We went again for our 2nd anniversary, and my 50th bday. We have been to this beautiful city 6 times now, visiting different hotels, and spent our last visit at Le Champlain last February. Our room was a nice big room with a kitchenette, sitting area with fireplace, king size bed, and oh, what a beautiful view!!! So nice to have coffee and a bite to eat without having to leave our hotel in the morning. It was the first time we spent so much time enjoying our room. Just magical. We will be staying in that same room for our 7th anniversary, valentines day, my bday in February. I can hardly wait! The room, service, location all perfect!

Room Tip: We loved the room we stayed in so much, that we booked the same room for our next visit, in February...

“Quebec City at Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We stayed at Le Champlain Hotel in June of 2011. After seeing photos of Quebec City at Christmas, my spouse and I decided to return in December for a weekend with our college age children. Although very cold, Quebec City was stunning! The hotel was very clean and warm (very important in this cold city at this time of year), and lots of hot water. They also had a hot chocolate, latte, cappacino machine in the lobby along with a fireplace, which was not only welcoming and warming after walking around the city, but also a huge cost savings. The breakfast was very good, and my only complaint was that the coffee was not hot. Breakfast was omelettes, toast, bagels, pork pate, yogurt, fruit salad. We have also experienced french toast and baked beans in our previous stay. They change it up, so it's not the same every morning. This hotel is within walking distance to everything, and once you park your car, there's no need to take it out. Be sure to call in advance to reserve a parking space, as parking is limited.

Best activities while we were there:
The Marché du Vieux-Port (Old Port Market) – Best donuts, maple products, wines, cheese, stocking stuffers, etc.
Walking the fortification wall along parallel to Honore Mercier and D’Auteuil at night to view Parliament Hill, the Chateau Frontenac and the rest of the city – exquisite!

Room Tip: Rooms in the front have a very nice view. Rooms in the back are cozy, but you may be looking at a br...

Bonjour!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer to your review... You totally right, Québec City is a charming city during summer and even during wintertime! I'm glad you like to give to Québec City a chance to seduce you once again!

Our breakfast is really good, we have 1 or 2 different hot plates eveyday to accommodate all the biggest craving! It's more than just a continental breakfast... We have eggs, baked beans, hot oatmeal or other hot plates, depending of your chef selection!

Tips for people looking for a room with a nice view: You should request at least the superior room to have a guaranteed nice view! All our superior, deluxe and suite rooms have a nice view of the city... And some rooms offer an incredible view of the Château Frontenac, especially the ones on the back side of the hotel. Upgrade your room from a standard to a superior room to enjoy the city from your window!

See you back soon!

“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

A big surprise! The hotel is a 5 minutes walk away from the Centre des congrès, the room was very spacious and breakfast (fruits, yogourt, eggs, baked beans, bagels, cereals...) was more than enough. I will certainly go back.

“A "charming picture"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

My husband brings me to Quebec so I can practice my French....What a lovely experience I, we had at the Champlain Hotel...We were welcomed by a lovely lady named Isabelle and a warm smile. Right away, we knew we made the correct hotel selection.....We have been to Quebec several times but stayed at other places.....no comparison with Champlain.....
The entire staff treated us with warmth and always a smile....when we had any questions, they would take time to help us........The room was so very clean, the bathroom also......that is very important to me.......The view is a picture that is forever in my memory.....food, well what else can I say except we did gain a few lbs.!! We will be going back and for sure make our stay with Le Champlain Hotel......you rock!! Dick & Vivian L. Dec 5/8 2011

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

My husband and three daughters and I stayed at Le Champlain. Our room had a great view of Old Quebec, and the room itself was spectacular: two huge beds, a really nice, roomy bathroom, an ambiance fireplace and a flat screen TV. Not only that, the location was great because it's about a block from where all of the action is going on in Old Quebec, yet close enough to the "Newer" Quebec that if you wanted to do stuff outside Old Town it was easy. The staff is fluent in English and goes out of their way to make you comfortable, plus they are very helpful for making recommendations for you for places to go to and eat. Plus, free complementary breakfast which is freshly made every morning. No complaints, except there's only one elevator for the entire hotel and that the lobby is small

Bonjour,

Thank you for choosing the Champlain Hotel! I'm glad you liked it! We are centrally located, right in the heartbeat of the city. Parliament Hill, Grande-Allée Street with his bars, Plaines d'Abraham and the Old-Town are all very close by!

You should consider coming back during the Winter Carnival, French Canadians love to celebrate snow and fresh cold air by praticising winter activities! The Champlain hotel is perfect during this festival because all the activities are near the hotel and you will appreciate being close in a freezy day!

We are a small hotel, it's why we have one elevator for the few rooms we have. The elevator is fast and efficient. The lobby is small, it is true, but it's charming and welcoming! All our staff love to meet people from all around the world and they all speak English very fluently.

I hope you loved your trip enough to come back again and again!

Thanks,

Marc-André
