Have stayed here twice now. One of my favorite hotels ANYWHERE. Smart-looking, comfortable property in a great location (lower city). Rooms are among the nicest you'll ever see. Staff is friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

Only two minor complaints: Lighting in rooms is inadequate. And they replaced the old coffee machines in lobby; now you must ask for a Nespresso pod at the front desk. Likely a cost-cutting measure, which I understand entirely. The old coffee service (with real demitasse cups even) was just too good to be true I guess.

This was not our first stay at Hotel 71, we had stayed there once before on a weekend trip to Quebec City. We had enjoyed our first stay and decided to stay there again and were happy that we did. From our arrival to departure it was an amazing experience. The staff at Hotel 71 were friendly and helpful. Our room had a view of the river…picture postcard perfect view….The room itself was very modern, clean and had high ceilings which gave it a very airy feel. There was an in-room Nespresso machine with pods and real ceramic cups. As well, they have a Nespresso machine in the lounge area on the main floor, and the front desk showed us how to use the machine and froth the milk. We had dinner at Il Matto, which is connected to the hotel and we definitely recommend eating there at least once during your stay. The continental breakfast that is served in the morning was very nice, everything was fresh, the croissants were perfect, and the waitress offered us specialty coffees such as Cappuccino, Alonge etc. The hotel is well located in Old Quebec and we were able to walk everywhere. We will definitely stay again.

Soon as we arrived, all the staff of the hotel were very helpful, from the valet to the front desk to the bellman. Especially helpful was the concierge/front desk. I just wasn't able to get her name but we were very tired from the drive from Presque Isle, Maine to Old Quebec she helped us book a good restaurant near the hotel and walked with us there, the whole time smiling and was giving us her time. The rooms were big enough, they had free coffee and a big bathroom.

When we were checking out at 12pm, i realized i had left the hotel umbrella where we had breakfast at that morning. The same girl told us not to worry that they would get the umbrella back themselves, without charge. From the start to the end, the service of the hotel was perfect. It's also very clean, big bed, spacious room. Loved it!

This review is long overdue. My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel back in July for the Canada day weekend. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a treat. We only had to pull the car up to the front and the friendly valet took care of the rest. Made sure we had everything we needed. We were escorted by a nice young man to check in. We were very impressed by the lobby decor. Very modern/Chic. The lobby also had a really nice aroma. I'm not sure what it was, candles? air fresheners? But, it smelled nice in there. We got to our beautiful room. I requested top floor which we got. We had a stunning view from the back of the Frontenac. The room itself was exceptionally clean. Bathroom was very nice and modern. Bed was large and comfortable. We loved the high ceilings and huge windows. All in all, we loved Quebec City and had a tremendous , very romantic stay at Hotel 71. I have recommended this place to all of my friends and family. My sister and brother in law have stayed there since and had a similar experience. Hotel was close to everything, we walked everywhere with no problem. I would recommend using the Funicular (sp?) instead of climbing the hill everyday though. I believe I paid around $200 a night. When I booked it I thought it maybe a little pricey, but after our stay, I would say it was worth every penny. We will return... hopefully sooner than later.
