The Marquis de Bassano is a top notch B&B situated right in old Quebec. The house is a solidly built old house and is full of character. Sound doesn`t travel at all--we hardly knew anyone else was staying there until breakfast in the morning.

The house is within walking distance of nearly everything you would want to do, and the staff is immensely helpful in arranging transportation and providing insights into the area restaurants and activities.

The breakfast is wonderful with hot coffee or tea, homemade croissants and jam, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, and a variety of other items. This breakfast will fill you up for sure!

We happened to see a member of the staff at a local restaurant. She let the restaurant know that it was our honeymoon and they gave us a couple of glasses of champagne on the house! This B&B is great--I would reccommend it to anyone, family or couple.

We wanted to stay in the old city but didn't want to be in a busy, noisy area. This B&B turned out to be just perfect for my wife and I. It's just 2 blocks from the main tourist area but very quiet. You'd hardly know there were thousands of people blocks away.

Véronyc et Francis, the hosts, were absolutely wonderful. They are both very friendly and warm, and are fun just to sit around with and chat. Our first day there we came back a bit early as we were tired and Francis brought out a bottle of wine and some appetizers to share with us so we sat around for a good hour or more talking politics and other things.

The rooms on the upper floor do not have an attached bathroom but this was not a problem. There is a large bathroom for the guests on that floor with a very nice shower. Sharing this with others was never a problem.

Breakfasts were excellent with fresh baked croissants every morning along with some cheese, meat, fresh fruit and some eggs of varying types.

I would definitely go back here as it made our stay in Quebec really quite wonderful.

Just the best accomodations, host and hostesses were magnificant. By the end of the 5 day stay we felt like family--the kind that don't argue, but have fun!!! The Best,

Our family celebrated my parents 50th anniversary over a 5 night period. Francis, the owner, was such a wonderful host as was the rest of his staff. We were treated as family and shared laughs, music and stories together. I could not imagine a more perfect place.
