“So so Hotel. but good value for backpacker”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

we stayed for 3 nights at the auberge michel doyon, our first thought its location near the old town Quebec but in fact quite far. about 30-45 minutes. and that too depends on the buses. and the buses are not available every 10 minutes as what they said, I think more than 15 minutes. The cleanliness of the room quite well, one thing I like, there was microwave in the room, so we can heat up our food. but one thing that we did not like was the shower temperature, its change rapidly. sometimes cold sometimes hot. and it makes me shocked while showering. sucks!

“Good value for your money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

We spent $80/night to stay here. We reviewed their website before going so we knew what we were getting into. This place is exactly as advertised, which makes it a great value for your money.

This B&B is not luxurios, but very nice. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. Parking was not an issue despite what other reviews say, we were their on Labourday weekend and even arrived late.

Breakfast was not glamourous, again, it was exacly like advertised on the menu on the website. The food was fresh.

Location is adequate, $10 cab ride to old Quebec, about 5 min, or a 10 min bus ride for half the cost. There are also a few great places to eat just up the road about 3 min away.

“Worst hotel over 100 hotel/motels in more than 20 years travel experiences in US, England, Italy, Japan, Canada, China..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

1. We booked a 2 beds room more than 1 month earlier, and gave me a one bed room at arrival, eventually changed to a 1 double size bed + single size bed room, charged $176/night in steady of $127/night as promised on the web.
2. None made bed, cleaned the room, and changed towels when we stayed there two days
3. Toilet flushing system did not function, the bar for handing towels was almost broken already, we had to ask the hotel to repair, and worked to about 10 pm at night.
4. Very small room, limited parking space.
5. The receipt was impolite, left the room without said a word and let me waiting there for more than 15 min, looks don’t like English speaker.
6. Have to pay internet fee
7. Only one thing is right in the ads, bus is very convenient.

I have looked among our customers of August and found no customer with a Tim first name or last name. I found no customer who rented a room with one double bed and one single bed that paid $176 per night. I found no customer that was in our hotel for two nights and who claimed that the room had not been made. I found no customer who reserved through Booking.com and reserved for a room with two beds. However, if this person stayed at our hotel and had such a bad experience, we will be glad to provide a full refund for their stay, as per the Guarantee of satisfaction that is posted on our web site.

“extremely small, noisy room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

We stayed for two nights and had a mixed experience with the lodging. Our room wasn't big enough for two people. There was barely room to get around the bed and still function. There was nowhere to place the suitcases nor was there adequate room to stand to change clothes, etc. The bath was clean, modern and the shower worked well. My biggest complaint was the traffic noise. This room faced a busy street and it sounded like the vehicles were coming straight in the room. The noise did not ease up until around midnight. I would suggest that if you book with Augerge Michel Doyon, you ask for a room AWAY from streetside. The continental breakfast was adequate. I would suggest a better brand of coffee and some decent bakery breads instead of the packaged sliced bread that was offered. At least the cereal selection included granola and other wholesome choices. The staff was courteous and helpful. Good bus service to Old City District.

“Nice cost-benefit for an overpriced city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

I was looking for a hotel in Quebec City but, to my suprise, every two-star hotel in downtown Quebec cost 180 plus USD a night without breakfast. As I am used to spare some bucks and don't mind to take a small ride on a bus, i've booked this hotel and indeed it was a nice choice. Just 10 minutes bus ride from downtown, with bus stop in front of the front-desk, a decent breakfast included, air conditioned (my visit was during the rare over 30oC-90oF days in the city) and most of all, 120usd for a night during the weekend. Don't expect Marriot or Hilton style, it is an honest two star hotel. I recommend it!
