“Great Location, Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My wife and I stayed here on our third visit to Quebec City, and this is our favorite hotel yet. PERFECT location....couldn't be better. Wonderful staff....couldn't be nicer or more outgoing. Immaculate rooms...couldn't be cleaner. However, rooms could be larger (not good for more than a couple), exercise room could be better (small with limited equipment), bar was closed at 10pm when we returned to hotel on a friday night (though there are dozens of choices steps away). That is our only criticism, and they are relatively minor. There are many restaurants within a two minute walk, hotel is directly across from the gates to the Old City, the views from the front rooms, especially upper floors, is magnificent, public skating in Place D'Youville 30 feet from front door, concierge service is constant and outgoing, front desk clerks are wonderful, elevator is responsive and quick, decor is trditional and tasteful, beds are perfect,.....we will stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the gate to the old city

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed in late January 2012. This is outstanding hotel (location, service, room quality). The staff (speaks perfect English) were very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Superior and most helpful concierge. And the location (a few blocks from Old Town)! Old Quebec area has the old European flair and great restaurants. Please try Portofino, a great Italian restaurant. We tried... Wow!

Room Tip: All rooms are great!

“Not a good stay!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Very well located, close to the old city (a block away from the St.John's Gate). The room was small, no view, bundling breakfast with room offers is not a good idea since the choices are very limited. The phone in our room did not work. Overall other than the location not best place to stay. There are great eateries within walking distance from the hotel.

“Very convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

The hotel is located just within walking distance from the old city & all the shopping/dinning. Breakfast area is small and options limited so you might reconsider bundling breakfast with room offers. There is no pool and the health club is very poor

Room Tip: Rooms facing the old city are quiet but might not be so during the weekend. The other side of the ho...

“Best value in Quebec city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

If you're a first timer in the magnificient city of Quebec, or a frequent visitor, you must try out this hotel. My family and I are rather the later, and we recently discovered this fine resting nest after searching on TripAdvisor for a new place to stay for the week-end. I was suprised about the ratings, because I had never heard of this place. In fact, our family in Quebec city never heard of it either! Of course, Marriott is my favorite chain of hotels, so I wasn't hard to convince.

First of all, getting here is quite easy, but you should still use the GPS because driving can be confusing in this part of town. Once you find the place, you'll notice a huge underground parking lot right next door. So don't bother with valet parking: drop the spouse, kids, and large amount of luggage in front of the hotel (making her regret having brought all that useless stuff...), park the car, and walk for the remaining of your stay.

Quebec city is one of the safest cities in the world, but should you absolutely need your car to visit the surroundings, do not come in and out of the parking lot, as they charge 10$ every time you exit. If you do plan to move in and out frequently, take the 20$/day plan (cheaper).

Don't forget to bring lots of warm layers in the winter, because it gets pretty cold here from January through March. We briefly met a couple from Main in the elevator, and they had never experienced temperature this cold. Mercury droped to -10F (-22C) during our stay.

Inside the Courtyard it's plenty warm though, as employees all around greet you with a friendly smile. Plus, a hot spa is waiting for you below.

Rooms are typicall Marriott, with all the essentials of comfort. Bathroom was especialy clean, and seemed to have been recently renovated.

But the best asset of this hotel is it's location. In front of Place d'Youville and the old city entrance, surrounded by fine restauraunts, shops, and beautiful streets to romanticaly walk about for hours. The final touch: a superb skating rink right next door designed to make you feel like John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale in Serendipity! They even have rentals if you don't own skates.

Considering all this, and the more than reasonnable price they charge, I'm giving this hotel a full 5 stars for value.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer a better city view.
