This hotel is an excellent price and is right outside the old walled city. The rooms are large, modern and very clean. My husband and I have stayed here twice and will return every Fall for our romantic October getaway!

This hotel is right at the gate to the old city with a lot of shops, restaurants and museum. The pool area is very nice and the room very confortable. Parking is $18 but you may not need a car since you can walk to all the main attractions and bus and taxi are available.

This large, friendly hotel is just outside the walls of Old Quebec, a perfect location. Our suite fit our family of 6 without a problem; most hotel suites are built for 3 or 4 people so we were happy to find one that fit us all. The staff tipped us off to the free Cirque du Soleil show a 5 minute walk away, and the International Fireworks competition just outside the city (take the bus from right behind the hotel). Countless shops, stores and restaurants are just inside the walls of the old city, and the walking path along the fortifications was interesting for all of our kids (ages 11-18). Our suite was a little tight with the sofa bed open but overall was large and comfortable. There's a beautiful indoor courtyard with a swimming pool and hot tub that half the rooms overlook. There's a higher-end steakhouse off the lobby, but we didn't try it. We found the staff very helpful and friendly, and the location was perfect. We'll definitely stay again on our next trip to Quebec.

The Hotel Palace Royal is located approximately 100 meters from the St. John Gate entrance to the Old City. My small queen bed suite was slightly dated but clean and comfortable. The room had a great balcony off of the sitting area that looked out on an atrium that houses the pool, jacuzzi and an indoor garden. It is the best feature of the room and the perfect place for having breakfast, surfing the web or just relaxing. Television is very basic with about half French and half English programming on a medium size CRT television. The wireless Internet service is average. The ambiance in the hotel restaurant is nice. Although, in my opinion the food is very average. Not to worry, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. The hotel bar was small with a very friendly staff. Drinks are reasonably priced although the liquor selection is somewhat limited.
