After seeing a good review on this site and reading about it in Fodor's we felt safe booking 2 nights in this inn. However, were we ever mislead! We needed accomodations for 2 adults and our 2 children and were told they had 2 rooms
and a shared bath that would work for us. We were quoted the rate for each room and a "deal" for booking both. When we arrived we were a little disappointed when we were told our rooms were in the basement but couldn't believe what they actually had the nerve to rent out. It was actually a cellar that was an unbelievable dump!. The furniture was mismatched and easily 30 years old, there was obvious water damage on the walls,and it smelled like fuel oil. On top of that you could hear the water run through the exposed pipes whenever anyone flushed the toilet in the building. We immediately expressed our displeasure but were told we shouldn't have expected very much for the rate they were charging us. (We had absolutely beautiful accomodations for little more earlier in the vacation) They would not let us cancel the first night but we were willing to pay to stay elsewhere to avoid a night there. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything within 50 miles of Quebec. We left early the next morning vowing to warn other unsuspecting tourists away.

This is a friendly, family run small hotel in the center of Old Quebec. It's only one block from the Chateau Frontenac (the most recognizable of all Quebec City landmarks), so the location can't be beat; the rooms are good sized, quiet, and CLEAN; the family who run it are friendly without interfering (plus they speak excellent English, for those who don't speak French); and they know their city extremely well, and so can recommend places to see, things to do, etc. It's not a bed and breakfast, but the proprietors will provide a decent breakfast for a small charge. It's not fancy, but unless you really LIKE impersonal chain-type hotels, you won't be disappointed with this one.
