“Good and bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2007

The room and bath were newly decorated and clean but small and consequently a bit stuffy. We had requested 2 beds-the second bed was a murphy bed which came out of a dresser and left about 6 inches of space in the room. Also, a minor point was that the TV was located on the wall in the upper corner which is very uncomfortable viewing.
During our stay the breakfast room was out of commision so the hotel had arranged for guests to breakfast at a nearby cafe. One of the reasons I stayed here was that breakfast was included. I am not a big breakfast eater but I do like coffee asap in the morning. Having to walk to a nearby cafe(albeit quaint with great food and very friendly staff) is not a good start to my day! We heard the problem was water damage caused by a drunk guest who left his shower on all night!!
The hotel is a 10 min. walk to old Quebec and that is good and bad. I imagine is it much quieter here than there and there is parking which must be a hassle downtown. I got a spot behind the Auberge so I have no complaints there.[There are 14 rooms & only 7 spots at the hotel]. We were tired with all the walking back and forth and around the city.
The best part is the Rue du Cartier right by the hotel. There are lots of great resto-bars and there is an indoor market and shops. It was very pleasant to eat there and not down in the very busy touristy part of Quebec.
On our last morning we wanted to leave early and were surprised that there was no one at the front desk until 8:30 a.m.
There was a sign advising people to inform the desk and to check out the night before but this had not been mentioned when we checked in. It held up our departure about an hour.
The staff was very friendly though.

“Dissapointed: A/C dirty, shower water temperature changing and parking costly.”

The room was correct, but first thing I have noticed is that the A/C mesh was very dirty with a lot af dust. When taking a shower, water temperature was changing when my girlfriend took some water and even when she was not taking water. It seems that your shower temperature is depending demand of everybody else in the hotel! I got burn and freezed few times. When we arrived, we had to pay for the parking and the girl at the office told us that we could leave our car the day after there. But, first thing we knew when we leaved the hotel in the morning the day after, another girl was at the office and she told us to remove our car for another customer. Nice way to say goodbye! We had to pay another parking in the city. Including these 2 parkings to pay, we should have pay 20$ more for a big hotel with more advantages including a swimming pool, spa and parking included!

“Nice and cozy, very cozy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2007

Location:
20 minute walk from Old Quebec
10 minute walk from the night life (This was a family vacation so we skipped the clubs/bars)
5 minute walk from a good cluster of restaurants

People:
The staff were excellent. They were welcoming and helpful with any questions we had.

Breakfast:
The included breakfast was more of a breakfast snack, there was a selection of self serv breads, fruits, cerials, juice milk and coffee. The food was fresh and we could east as much as we liked.

Room:
We have 4 people in our family so I booked a room with two queen sized beds. Well the room was very cozy, it was big enough for the two beds plus a narrow desk but not much more. The TV had to be mounted on the wall because there's no space for it elsewhere. In addition the room was below ground level so the window was small and the amount of natural light was limited. I must say that this was the only downside to our stay.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to others, however, I would just advise you to ask which floor your room is on and avoid the ones below ground level.

“Great weekend stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2007

I stayed at Auberge du Quartier with my boyfriend for a long weekend. After a long car ride it was lovely to see a smiling face upon check in. The bi-lingual staff was very helpful and got us situated in our room right away.

The room had many modern touches from the red walls to the furniture. The size of the room was rather small, but it sufficed. My only complaint was the size of the bathroom. There was very little room to move around or store my belongings.

Parking was an additional $10 (CAD)/night which I read about on the hotel webpage. Internet was included in the room rate as was the continental breakfast. The breakfast was a great start to the day. There were a variety of cereals to choose from as well as breads, croissants, cheeses, fruit, etc. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice were also available. The staff was very quick to take drink orders and take away dirty dishes.

The hotel was in the vicinity of several restaurants and shops. You could walk to Old Quebec, but we found it much easier to drive as it was snowing and rather chilly outside. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again next time I’m in Quebec.

“Nice Little Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2007

We stayed for one night on our way to the Ice hotel. Room was nicely decorated, very modern and attractive. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was pretty but a little lacking in hot water both my partner and I had to have quick showers, me at night him in the morning. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a nice added bonus. This hotel is very close to cute shops and restaurants and within walking distance of old downtown, but you might be a little frozen when you get back to your room. The price was exceptional, would stay here again in a heartbeat!
