The staff are very welcoming in this 'hotel' but we found that the place was too expensive for what you actually get. I know that Quebec is expensive in the summer, and we deliberately looked at places outwith the old town walls because of this.
Location wise, L'Auberge du Quartier is great, with a 15 minute walk to Quebec centre, and plenty of places to eat along l'Avenue Cartier just around the corner.
We also knew that parking and breakfast were extra, but in Quebec we soon realised that parking is hugely expensive, and we have never really been great fans of fully cooked breakfasts in the morning. In any case, this place does not claim to be a B&B in the usual sense, it really is more of a small hotel/ guest house,
What disappointed us was the size of our room and particularly the bathroom. Again, I knew when booking that the room was located in the basement, with just a small window giving limited light, but the two ( very comfortable) queen beds really did take up almost all of the room, meaning there was virtually no space for our 4 bags. The room had been nicely decorated in a cosy contemporary manner ( it's so difficult to find anything non flowery chintz and 'oldie worldie' in Quebec, it's like being stuck in a time warp in so many hotel rooms!) but some fittings seemed to be in need of repair already . The light above the bath/shower gave us particular cause for concern, situated as it was in close proximity to water.
Given the price we were paying for our 2 night stay + parking + breakfast + taxes ( it would be so much easier to quote the FULL price at the time of booking to avoid any confusion for some travellers) we also found that an additional fee for wi-fi was a little ' mesquin' as we say in French.
To finish, this is a friendly cosy place in a pleasant part of town, but the prices are just too high for me to say that I would go back there if in Quebec again.
