“This is not the Chateau Frontenac...”

but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We spent 3 nights here last week and found the accommodations more than adequate when you consider the price and the location. The building is advertised as being "an old lady of 180 years" and that added to the charm of the experience. The rooms (2 on the 2nd floor - room 7 and 11) were not big, but not as small as the room in the B&B we'd stayed in just up the block. As another mentioned, the beds were ok, but extra pillows were provided after we asked for them.

You don't stay here for the hotel experience, but for the location. Next to the US Consulate and a short staircase to the Terrasse Dufferin the location can't be beat.

We would definitely stay here again.

“Stay here if you want a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

The best way to describe the interior of this hotel is dated. The common areas and rooms were probably fitted out about 30 years ago and really could do with a bit of modernisation. They are adequate however you won't get the luxuries of a modern hotel here. Things like hair driers, air conditioning etc are not standard. Everything is clean and well kept considering its age though. The hotel is very noisy. we could hear people banging around in rooms above and the floors were very creaky. I expect the rooms get very hot in summer.

On the flip side though, the location is excellent. You are right on the broadwalk and the view from outside the hotel is fabulous. I think the only way to get a better location would be to stay in the Fairmont.

We stayed here for one night and it served its purpose very well. I don't think I would want to stay much longer though.

“Hotel but B&B Look and Feel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

This hotel has a great location: overlooks the Saint Lawrence river on the same street as the Chateau Frontenac, overlooking the boardwalk and the river. We found a deal through "Bonjour Quebec", otherwise it really would have been overpriced for what it is.
We had a small room at the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor - by the way no elevator. It is a charming old house, probably needs some upgrades too. The room was very small, tiny bathroom and they still had a rotary telephone!!! The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. The bed was double (not queen) and only one set of pillows (i.e. 2).
The owners were friendly and helpful on restaurant hints.
If you get a chance to book one of the rooms facing the river, they have a balcony with what seems to be a nice view. Breakfast was not included in our room/deal.
Parking was for a fee at the end of the street near the cliff/park overlooking the river. It was empty, seemed not very safe being in a dead end. But people also leave there, so I guess it is ok; however, certainly not worth $18 parking outside on unpaved ground.

“Great Value in the heart of OLD QUEBEC”

My wife and I booked for 4 nights - It was a busy time and we were advised they had one room available and could accomodate us for the period we required - in a room at the rear of the hoyel but without a view. We took it. We joked that it most likely is the garden shed. Surprise Surprise.. It was on the first floor and yes it did face the rear of the property. It was more than we envisaged - with en-suite. After all at the end of the day we were only in the room to shower and sleep. The Hotel location was super, The views down onto the St Lawrence when you stepped out the front door were superb - All the Staff were so friendly. They allowed us to sit and have breakfast out on the sunny office balcony taking in the view of people strolling the boardwalk below and beyond them, the busy shipping moving on the St Lawrence. A cold bottle of wine on the same balcony one evening as the sun set was outstanding. We will certainly return...
