“Friendly and welcoming boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

The Belley was perfect for our needs; from the helpful e-mail exchanges, to the welcome, the lovely room and the great location. We had room 214, which was spacious and comfortable. The absence of a lift (elevator) may be a problem for those with limited mobility.
Parking was provided in a lot 100 metres away. Ten minutes walking takes you to the restaurants and shops of the old town (and to the only cask ale outlet in Quebec- La Barberie!) Good food and antique shops are moments away. Strongly recommended.

“It was OK”

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in August 2010. If you are arriving into Quebec City by train or by bus, this hotel is about three big blocks away, across the horribly busy, traffic-clogged Rue Saint Paul. Also, most of the tourist area you will want to visit is going to require walking uphill from this hotel. The room itself was nice and clean, and sparsely furnished in a good way. The wood floors are a nice touch. The staff was fine and helpful. I ate two very good meals in the tavern/pub on the ground floor (which serves food for only breakfast and lunch). The first night, the noise from the place below was very loud, until around 12:30 a.m. The second night, it was much more muted. All in all, this was an okay place to stay. I think it is overpriced for what you get, so I would definitely explore my options before booking. However, if you need something close to the train/bus station, this is about as close as you can get.

“Best place to stay if arriving by train!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

I picked this hotel mainly based on its proximity to the train station and the excellent reviews on this website. However, I have to say I was a bit hesitant. The website of the hotel was a little dodgy and the interesting pink facade of the building made me ponder what the inside looked like. But boy was I in for a surprise...

The hotel was a <2 minute walk from the train station. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and it seemed like a really well run establishment with the bar downstairs. We were given Room 112 which is excellent because it is a corner room which overlooks the parkette outside. The rooms were newly renovated and tastefully decorated (laminate floors, comfortable bedding, eye-pleasing decor). Most importantly, the room was very clean!

This hotel really is a hidden gem. Aside from being close to the train station, it is right across the street from the Marche De Vieux Port. There is also a Ecolobus stop right outside at the parkette - look up the Ecolobus, it's free and passes by many of the attractions in the old city! As well, if we did not stay here, we would have never discovered the wonderful little antique shops and art galleries which are located just down the street.

I would highly recommend this hotel!!!

“A gem near Quebec City station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2009

We needed a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the station, and this gem proved a fantastic solution. The tiny Belley hotel sits above a popular bar/cafe, loaded with local colour and charm. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and can be relied upon both for interesting snippets about the immediate vicinity and for tips for venturing further afield.

Our bedroom was spotlessly clean and quite spacious, with exposed brick walls, wooden floors and large windows that opened out over the petanque pit - great fun to watch the locals playing in the evening! The bathroom was a little small but it worked. As others have mentioned, there is no coffee-maker and no fridge, but we managed to get coffee in the downstairs cafe with no problem as early as 7am. It proved as charming - and colourful - for a breakfast bowl of cafe au lait with croissant as it did for a late evening drink (or two or three!).

Our only slight reservation was some traffic noise early morning on our first night there, but interestingly this wasn't repeated on our second night. The stairs were a little steep for carrying cases and although this wasn't a problem for us, it likely would be for the elderly or for those with disabilities.

All in all, for a great value vieux ville hotel with charm, this would be hard to beat.

“Great location, Great Value”

Lovely little spot at a great price. Spotlessly clean, steps from the Old Port and the walled city -- perfect distance to keep the crowds and noise down, while still being able to walk everywhere in the Old Town.
As previously mentioned, no coffee makers in the room, but you can get a great coffee from several places within a stone's throw, including the main-floor cafe.
The Marche du Vieux Port right across the street has vendors who sell killer coffee, croissants, baguettes, fresh fruit and veg and more.
We bought our breakie there one morning and ate at a picnic table on the grass in front of the market.
Also close to the Cirque site and the Robert LePage projection.
