“Good Location, Close to the Train”

We stayed here for 3 nights. We came in by train so it was perfect for us. Just a short five minute walk to the hotel. The room we stayed in was actually a suite in the building across the street. It was great! The suite looked newly renovated. We had a queen size bed in the bedroom and the sitting area had a TV with 2 chairs and a murphy bed. We even had our own balcony out back and although small, for my husband who is a smoker, it was ideal. Just be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs.
The location wsa great. Everything was in walking distance and didn’t have a problem with the hill. You can always walk down the street and to the right to get to Lower Town where the shops are. Either way you’re going to be walking up and down a lot of hills no matter where you stay.

Also the price cant be beat. For what I spent on 3 nights here, could be spent on 1 night in the Chateau Frontenac. I would definitely stay here again.

“Good location, simple decor”

I stayed at this hotel for two nights during a vacation in Quebec City. It was a very quick walk from the train station, which was great when I arrived late in the afternoon carrying a bunch of bags. My room was on the top floor, and was basic but very adequate. The beds were not the plush kind you find in many chain hotels, but they were clean and in good condition and I slept well. Based on other reviews I was a bit concerned about noise from the first floor, but the hotel actually seemed extremely quiet while I was there. There was a bit of road noise, but I hardly ever heard anyone else in the building. The hotel was about a 5-10 minute walk from the centre of downtown, uphill, but for anyone who is okay with a bit of exercise to get around it was very conveniently located. Overall I was glad that I chose to stay here.

“Really nice rooms with a wonderful ambiance”

The location is great in my opinion. It is just downhill from old Québec and about a 10 minutes walks from the Saint-Roch quartier. It is also pretty near the train/bus station.

I had a room on the third floor, which I think was probably one of the biggest they had. It had 3 windows that you could open at your liking. It also had all the amenities you would expect, and I include free internet in those.

I guess it's true that it could be loud sometimes, My room was located at the back and on the top floor so I think I avoided most of it, but on one night they had a band on the first floor (I should point out the first floor is something of a pub/bar) and I can imagine the people on the second floor could hear it, but It ended pretty early if I remember right.

Also, the showers are a bit short for people who are over 6 foot tall. And the hotel should really consider serving a real breakfast, even though they really make a good expresso.

All in all, I really enjoyed my stay there. Slept well and had lots of space and air.

“Location. Location.”

A good value hotel above a popular bar in the Lower Town. Rooms are small, but updated and generally clean. Our floor needed sweeping, but wasn't during our stay. Rates are about 2/3 the price of comparable rooms in the Upper Town. Step across the street to the Old Market for breakfast or picnic fare. Walk to the Upper Town in 10 minutes, but get away from the tourist crowds when you come "home" in the evening. Look for free entertainment on the boardwalk of the Old Port. Ask about public bus transportation to Montmorency Falls and get help with your French from the locals on the bus. Be adventurous and try the game dishes on the menus: pheasant, bison, caribou, wild boar, duck, and more. Bring a compact French dictionary and make the effort to start talking in French. Usually you'll get a friendly smile before the locals respond in English. Expect to pay $10-$15 a day for parking a car, often with in/out privileges. If weather is unsettled, carry a compact umbrella; downpours come suddenly.
