The room was OK, and they are in a good location, but their breakfast is pitiful. ONE single STALE croissant (that's croissant ini the singular, not plural like a reviewer on this site has it). Skip that, and find a restaurant to have a decent breakfast at, with enough, fresh, food. So add that cost to the cost of the room when you comparison shop.

The Hotel Au Jardin du Gouverneur is in an excellent location; right in Old Quebec. The hotel itself is basic, but clean and quiet, with a very helpful staff. The room I stayed in was on the cheaper side, but still quite large. Continental breakfast (coffee, juice, croissants) is included in the price and was good. There is a soda machine on one of the floors, and ice is available at the reception desk (unfortunately, it closes at 11). If you are looking for a hotel with lots of amenities, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a simple, clean hotel at an affordable price (check out the website and ask for the cheaper rooms) in a great location, check this hotel out.

Yes this is a spectacular location! Don't forget to get outside of Quebec city as well if you have the chance. The price is also right for these larger rooms...

BUT this place is 170 years old (really). We had to unplug our tiny 13" room television just to plug in a hair dryer. The AC was tempermental. They argued with us not to leave it on too much, they argued the noise it was making was due to "ice buildup" oh please!! I made such a fuss I think they actually replaced the AC with a new one after we left (rm 202) (they placed us in another hotel down the street). The walls are thin, but it was quiet overall. The floors are extremely dirty and don't get vacuumed. Where there is no carpet there was sticky spots. Yeech. I felt disgused every time I stepped into the room. It also stank quite badly. Every faucette leaked. The tub ran continuously. The 12V razor only outlet is taped over with red tape (??)

The hotel has no services whatsoever. The only phone is on the main floor. We had no icemaker. The continental breakfast is terrible. The croissant was hard each day.

Oh well! the staff was pretty friendly tho.
If you take this place, make sure your AC works and hope for the best.

This hotel has an unbeatable location in Vieux Quebec. It faces the Parc des Gouverneur and is next to the Chateau Frontenac. Almost everything is within walking distance. The rooms are fairly large, if a little old feeling. The included continental breakfast is on the light side, but this is a city to save room for lunch and to over do it at dinner. The parc which it faces has several other small, affordable yet nice hotels. Of those we have tried facing this park, this is not our first choice, but, as our first choice is full, we will spend our upcoming visit at Au Jardin des Gouverneur.
