For a place under $100 within Old Quebec, this is quite a nice little place. Ran by a family - very friendly. Has 2 types of rooms available - room with private bath (1st & 2nd floor) or room with shared bath (3rd floor - 3 showers & 3 restrooms shared between 10 rooms). 3rd Floor is very much like a dormitory, with couch, TV & microwave. During my stay, the weather has been very nice, so don't know how well the AC works. The TV in the room is antique... There is a public computer in the lobby area. Breakfast: toast, muffin, croissant, jam, peanut butter, cereal, orange juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk.

We stayed here for one night in June, 2006 in the course of a whirlwind tour. We picked it because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and the price. It was wonderful. Location was great, view not quite what we expected but interesting. The friendliness and level of service was incredible, rooms were adequate for a building of this size and type, and the furnishings were great. The bed, cleanliness, quality of linen, were of the highest standard. There does not appear to be any air conditioning, but if we were to go again at a time that it was not very hot, we would certainly stay at this hotel and stay longer.

The best things about this hotel were the price ($95CAD), the location (just around the corner from the old city center), and the very friendly hotel staff. The owner even gave us a lift to Montmorency Falls since she was going that way anyway. No 4* hotel will do that for you.

My husband, toddler and I stayed at this hotel in June, 2005. It was the cheapest I could find inside the city walls, and I was dubious. The picture I found on the Web didn't make me feel any better.

But after a brief taxi ride from the train station, we were dropped off at a very quaint, if old, hotel. The owner was at the desk, and was very welcoming to all of us, pointing out the child-sized rocking chairs in the lobby to my daughter.

Our room on the third floor (no elevators) had two double beds. Two large windows looked out on the St. Lawrence River. There was a ceiling fan which in June is a relief. There was also an old empty honor bar refrigerator where you can keep cool drinks, grapes, etc. Very handy.

The room was plain but very clean. The buffet breakfast was more than enough food.

If I ever come back to Quebec City, I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here with another couple on August 13-15, 2005. Everywhere seemed to be booked up, so we were thrilled to find somewhere at under CDN$100 inside the walls of the Old City AND including breakfast!

It's certainly far from luxurious, but it was pretty quiet, the service was friendly and they let us check in shortly after noon. Our room had recently been renovated with random furniture - fancy side tables, leather sofabed (with no room to fold out), flat-screen TV, great air-conditioner - and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. Our friends' room was shabbier and a little musty but their bathroom fittings were all new.

The breakfast was very good, consisting of juice, coffee/tea/chocolate, melon, cereals, toast, rolls and muffins. There was free internet access in the lobby. The location is excellent, walking distance to everything in Vieux Quebec and just a short, very vertical hike from the lower town. The view must be beautiful if you get a room at the front of the hotel. Would have no problem staying here again.
