“Perfect Perfect Location”

We arrived early for a 6 day stay which didn't turn out to be a problem the staff cheerfully kept our bags locked under lock & key until our room was available. We immediately went sightseeing upon returning for check in.We opened the door & both burst out laughing at the size of the room. It was so very, very small. This would be ok for 1, but 2 for 6 days it was quite cramped & we're a loving couple...If you have kids in tow I would not recommend at all. We did have to complain about the maid service one day. But really no big deal. The bar & restaurant staff was excellent & it's a very busy spot. If your a light sleeper you make want to take that into consideration. They only have a limited selection of imported beer but their cocktails are fantastic. The building is amazing, very old and romantic & quaint. The cobblestone streets are right outside the door, horse & buggy rides a few feet away. Streets & alleys filled with artworks at the corner of the hotel. It's in the perfect location for touring Old Quebec. You look out the bedroom window to the most spetacular view of the Frontenac. There;s a huge fountain in the park across the street where artist's are set up with their easels painting away & lovers hand in hand on the benches. Truly a romantic spot. It made a great home base for our packed days of sightseeing. I felt like I was in Europe staying there. There is also a little depanneur about 3 blocks away that has the best deli & fresh baked goods. I would stay again most definately without question!

“Location Tres Bien!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

Great location, steps to historical sites, shops and restaurants. Friendly, helpful front desk. Stairs remind me of hotels in France. Wish this was a bed and breakfast as a morning meal would have been nice. Some noise from downstairs restaurant and door next to room for staff. Would look around for B&B's next time for better price with breakfast included. Parking a couple of blocks away in a very difficult access garage $13 a day.
Can't beat the location and atmosphere.

“A quaint and convenient stay in a lovely old city”

We had selected this inn based on reviews on Trip Advisor, where it was highly rated. This was a lovely little inn (the one with the red roof, two red chimneys and outdoor cafe that you often see in pictures of Old Quebec City). We wanted something reasonable but nice with a convenient location and the Auberge du Tresor gets an "A" for all three of our priorities. In reading the reviews, we were advised on requesting certain rooms, which were recommended based on amenities and view--we selected #25 based on those reviews but ended up in #19, which had just been completely refurbished in a lovely decor, and we were delighted for we had location, location, location. Our room overlooked Place d'Armes with a great view of the Chateau Frontenac and was convenient to the front desk and stairway. We had only one apprehension from the reviews and that was the second floor location of the desk with no elevator. Since we are not light packers and had just come off a 14 day New York trip and cruise, our concern was carrying 4 suitcases upstairs--this concern was unfounded once we arrived at the hotel and found the stairway not all that bad (we are almost 70). A bit of advice, though, that we found out later, there is a porter on call to help you with carrying your bags up the stairs and we were happy to utilize his services on our departure. The gals at reception were very cordial and helpful. When you visit Old Quebec, we highly recommend this quaint inn and its dining options, but make sure to request a room with a view on the first level.

“Why stay anywhere else?”

We stayed at the Auberge Du Tresor in late August for 2 nights and the choice was a home run. Not sure why this is classified as a B&B………..it’s really more of a small Inn.
It’s a beautiful small Inn right in the center of Old Quebec, on the opposite side of the square from the Chateau Frontenac. It is steps away from 2 Artists alleys and there are street performers all around the square right outside the hotel. The funiculare to Lower Town (or the steps) is just a few feet away, and Dufferin Terrace along the cliffs is right across the square. We were right in the middle of everything we wanted to see and do.
The employees at the Tresor were more than very nice. Eliane and Victor gave us some great suggestions on things to do and places to see. They both were very friendly and attentive. Their English was perfect, and I appreciated their patience at my pitiful attempts at French! They couldn’t have been nicer to us.
We saw several of the rooms and each was a little different and each very charming. We chose a room on the 2nd floor (I think room 19) in the front of the building overlooking the square and the Chateau Frontenac. The room had a queen size bed, was clean and well laid out. Even with the Inn’s central location, the room was very quiet at night and we slept well. The free wifi worked well. The food at the restaurant downstairs was delicious, and the tables outside on the terrace provided a great atmosphere for people watching.
There isn’t much parking in old Quebec so the hotel has a discount arrangement with a parking garage nearby. We were able to unload the car right at the Inn door before moving to the parking garage. Once we parked the car; we never needed it until we were leaving the city.
We’ll certainly return again to Quebec for another visit. When we do, we’ll be sure to stay at the Tresor again. I recommend this Inn very highly.

“The location is unbelievable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We stayed for two nights in Quebec City at the Auberge du tresor. Clearly there are dozens if not hundreds of such places in Old Montreal, but it's impossible to imagine one that's in a more ideal place. Directly across the park, in plain view, is the Chateau Frontenac, (a view that you can't get from inside the hotel by the way). The Auberge sits on rue Ste-Anne which is a pedestrian street full of vendors, artists and coffee shops, with a row of horse drawn carriages lined along the street. The main visitor centre for Quebec is across the road, the Funicular entrance is at most 300 meters away.
The auberge itself is rather dated, it's in a building of some historical significance, which I'm guessing limits how they can renovate it. Still, it has old world charm, is sufficiently roomy and has climate control. There is also a great deal of sound control, as the bustling street outside never kept us from sleeping.
The bundled romance package is a fabulous deal and the restaurant is a fully capable and well run one. We were completely satisfied with our service and food. One drawback is that parking is a few blocks away, but not a big problem. It is permitted to load and unload your car in front of the Auberge.
The staff are bilingual and sufficiently attentive and helpful. We had no problems during our stay.
