“Beautiful hotel - great rooms, location, service and value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We stayed at L'Auberge St-Pierre after having spent a couple of nights at the Château Frontenac, and we liked it even more! The hotel is beautiful - they have done a superb job of transforming an old building.

The rooms are fantastic, a great mix of old and new. The bed was comfortable, shower pressure was great, and the whole place was full of little finishing touches that make it feel really luxurious.

Staff were extremely helpful, both in recommending things for us to do and helping us with our French!

Location is very convenient for exploring the Lower Town, but be prepared to climb the hill (or take the funiculaire) if you want to reach the Upper Town.

Overall a magnificent hotel, we will definitely be returning next time we're in Québec.

Dear mrob4422,

It was a pleasure to read your review about our property, thank you for taking the time to share it with everybody.

Being a small Inn of 41 rooms and suites we can certainly provide a more personal service to our guests unlike other larger properties which unfortunately have to focus on volume.

We certainly appreciate the fact that you enjoyed our prime location in Quebec City’s Old Port, our décor mix of old & new, the room’s comfort level, water pressure as well as our team’s effort to please.

We are looking forward to your next visit and hope for many more.

À bientôt,

“A touch of Europe in Quebec City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

For the past 3 years, we stayed at Auberge Saint-Pierre around New Year's Eve. This year was no different and we weren't disappointed by our stay.

Auberge Saint-Pierre is located in Quebec City's Old lower town (aka Basse-Ville) on a quiet street surrounded by restaurants and art galleries. It is just across the street from the Musée de la Civilisation, a museum sponsored by the Government of Province of Quebec. The hotel is also a few hundred feet from the shore of the Saint-Laurence River. However, only some rooms will have a view on the River due to the presence of the Museum across the street. (Last time, we were in room 301 and had a partial view on the River).

The hotel is more a boutique style establishment than a full service hotel. It offers (very good) breakfast in the morning. For lunch and dinner however, you will have to find a restaurant outside the hotel which shouldn’t be a problem since the hotel is surrounded by restaurants within a 5-10 minutes walking distance. You won’t find either a pool or a business center (Wi-Fi is available however in the rooms).

Getting there might be a little tricky due to one-way circulation and a pedestrian street at the back of the hotel. However, once you know your way, it's a breeze. There is a valet service at the door. I suggest you take advantage of it due to restricted parking time and limited parking space around the hotel. There is also a parking lot near the Saint-Laurence River a few blocks away. We found more convenient to give the car keys to the valet (+/- 20$/day).

The service is professional and attentive: nothing to complain about on that front. The rooms over the years proved to be roomy and clean. The rooms we had over the years were more suites than rooms with a salon and, on two occasions, a dining area. On one occasion, we had some difficulties controlling the temperature inside the room: it had a tendency to be a little hot (we stayed only in winter time). On another occasion, the temperature in the bathroom (room 301) was too cold (+/- 60 F). We don’t know if this was a problem since the temperature outside was exceedingly cold (-15 F!).

Auberge Saint-Pierre proved to be a good base to wander around Quebec City Old Town in winter time. We found that there is plenty to do around with art galleries, restaurant, shops and museums.

Given the location and value for the price (+/- 190$ a night around New Year's Eve, breakfast included), Auberge Saint-Pierre is worth considering.

Since we stayed only during winter time, I can't comment on the rooms during summer time (hot/cold?).

I hope it is helpful.

Dear joebecquets,

We, at Le Saint-Pierre, would like to thank you for taking the time to share your review of our property.

It’s a pleasure to know that you have enjoyed this stay as well as all your previous ones; we truly appreciate your continuous support.

As our property is located in an historic building (Quebec’s first insurance office: The Quebec Fire & Insurance Company), we have kept most of the original architecture and structure as well as the original hot water heating system which provides lots of heat to our guests during the winter months without any dryness! Our modern cooling system takes over for the summer months.

As you mentioned, our Inn offers all of our guests a daily American breakfast which is included in the room rate and served in the Auberge’s exclusive dining room. For lunch and dinner, our connecting property, Hotel 71, welcomes all to its Italian Restaurant called Il Matto 71. Or else, as you stated, our Old-Port location is filled with tons of tempting options.

When thinking about coming back to Le Saint-Pierre, make sure to have a look at our website for our latest promotions and packages for the best options.

All of us are looking forward to your next visit,

“Old Quebec City Diamond”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We took a family vacation to Quebec City over the New Year Break and decided to try this hotel. Very last minute decision with 5 in our party. They had two large rooms available in this quaint historic building in the heart of old Quebec City. The rooms were clean, much larger than we expected, and it is directly across the street from the Museum of Civilization. The hotel has only 41 rooms in all. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, valet parking for $21 per day (a must!) the breakfast is included and very good. They will deliver to your room, or you can eat in their small breakfast cafe'. No dinner, but it is attached to 71 st Pierre which has a bar and restaurant, although there are plenty of good places to eat in walking distance. This is not a modern hotel appointed in marble and large lobbies. If you are looking to experience true old Quebec in a classic way this is it! We absolutely loved our stay, the staff, and the accommodations. WIFI worked fine, small refrigerators in the room, lots of room to move around. We would definitely stay here again. Great value.

Room Tip: We booked late so ask about the quiet rooms as the walls are a bit thin-although we had no issues.

Dear NewYorkBill211,

Thank you for taking the time to review our property, we greatly appreciate your comments and are looking forward to your potential return to Le Saint-Pierre.

Our building is in fact a Historic one; it did host the Province’s first Insurance Office: The Quebec Fire & Insurance Company back in the late 19th century.

Beside our unbeatable location, extra complimentary perks, as you mentioned, include daily hot breakfast served in our exclusive dining room, high-speed wireless Internet connection, access to the Inn’s Reading room, coffee & coffee maker, flat screens, etc…

Lots of added values for our valued guests!

“Quaint stay in Quebec-City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

I was in Quebec-City for a business trip and my usual place to stay Auberge Saint-Antoine was sold out. I opted for a new place (Auberge Saint-Pierre) which is just around the corner - what a great discovery - at approximately half the price with breakfast included. The Saint-Pierre is an older style hotel which fits just right with the decor of Old Quebec. Great breakfast nook (full service breakfast) and a beautiful reading room just off from the lobby. Hotel is extremely clean ....rooms are very large with very high ceilings ...and still uses old style water heaters ....which work very well - thankfully the old style windows are fully functional and open ....letting in some brisk winter air for a great night sleep. The bed was extremely comfortable while watching the modern LCD TV. My room also came with a nice work desk and a real spacious couch. The bathroom was nicely renovated and have European style 'telephone showers'. For the actual spent in the room ....this place was more than one could ask for. The hotel surroundings are just spectacular ......cobble style street with tons of small boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. The hotel is located right in front of the Museum of Civilization. Opt for the valet parking ($21- night vs $20 - night for park yourself). Beautiful stay in a beautiful city.
