“Great location, friendly, helpful service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I love this hotel. Located in the "lower" part of the city, it's a short walk to great restaurants, the river and parking is right out the back door! The funicular to the upper city is only a short walk away, also. It's much less congested than the upper city.
We stayed in room 401 which had a river "view", but I would call it more of a "glimpse".It had a contemporary design, queen bed, a wonderful large bathroom,flat-screen Samsung tv (with both French and English-speaking channels), thick robes, in-room pay bar, in-room expresso/cappuccino/coffee machine, and temperature control for the bathroom and bedroom. Turn-down service at night.
The staff speak English and are VERY helpful and friendly. They won't steer you wrong as far as where to go to eat. They also know the place to receive the best exchange rates.

Evening drinks are available (there is a charge for this). You can relax by the fireplace.
The continental breakfast is wonderful!! Fruit salad, cheese, hard boiled eggs, croissant (chocolate, plain), granola, cheese, coffee, tea, regular and decaf cappuccino, expresso, and lattes. Yogurt parfaits. I could go on...

Which reminds me, there is a workout room which looked very nice, but we never used it (!)
I can't wait to return!

Room Tip: I don't know if a view of the river is worth the extra money. Room 401 only had a "glimpse...

The hotel is truly beautiful in a truly beautiful part of a truly beautiful city....just entering the lobby is therapeutic.... one has no option but to relax and feel looked after....the fireplace, the small bar... the staff are trained to impeccable performance....the rooms are exquisitely appointed ... they subtly let you know that every detail of your possible needs has been anticipated.. the buffet breakfast is perfect... when you leave (this time after 4 days), you want to know when you'll be able to return..... Felicitations ...encore une fois....

“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We really enjoyed our visit to Quebec City and our stay at Hotel Le Germain-Dominion. The lighting in the rooms took a little getting used to, but we ended up being happy with it. The in room details were A+. The lobby and lounge area were very inviting and the full continental breakfast was excellent. The Hotel is wonderful, but above all else, the staff made our stay. Everyone was so helpful and friendly, but we particularly enjoyed Sebastian and Simon. Both made several recommendations during our stay and all were great. We will be back again.

“A gem of a Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My wife and I had hoped to stay at the Manoir St-Castin only to be very disappointed so we decided to drive into the lower town and came upon the Dominion purely by accident. The reception was an eye opener with a comfortable lounge just off the lobby with 24 hour coffee and a fire place which was really cosy. The location in the old city was superb especially with all the venues in the Old city and the restaurants and antique stores on Rue St-Paul. The room itself was very roomy and the Duvets were very comfortable. The shower was ample for two and all the walls were very rustic with twelve foot ceilings. Due to its particular location take advantage of all the sights and in the summer particularly the yacht harbour.

Room Tip: Any room in this Hotel is fabulous

“nice boutique hotel, close to old town but a tall hill away from the centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Staff was very nice, large room with a vertical shower and no tub (which I like). Oddly it had a CRT television (not a concern) and one of those k-cup coffee makers. Room was a bit dark (which I like) and the breakfast setup was excellent. They had very well presented array of food and a communal sitting area on couches and around a fireplace or around a large square table with all your local dailies, I quite liked it. In a very pretty part of Quebec City and you can move laterally along the river to an older area with nice shops, etc. To get up to the main area (the Chateau Frontenac, my restaurant reservations) you had to climb up a very large hill (can loop through the old part and find stairs for most of it), which led to some very amusing stories for my girlfriend and I. I liked it but might try somewhere else next time.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Unfortunately, you didn’t know there is an easy access to get to the upper town, the Funicular, which is a scenic elevator. The Old town of Quebec City is divided in 2 parts, the lower and upper areas, and most of our guests find the lower town more interesting with a very large choice of restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and museums. We have HD flat-screen televisions in 40 of our 60 and are happy to inform you that the other 20 televisions will be changed and upgraded this year. You will always be welcome to stay with us again.
