Just come back from my trip to Quebec it was short vacation for me, my wife and her sister. Hotel located in the best spot in town (Quebec) all the best restaurants, winter attractions like Glisade de Terrasse, Winter Festival spot,, historic sites, shopping all withing walking distance its a old part of the city which fill and look amazing. If you care you can reserve room with the view so it will enhance experience from hotel.Stuff of the hotel are friendly and very helpful even though mind that everybody speaks French, but happily switch to English, the place is not cheap also one must be aware that every price, does not include federal and local taxes which is always extra and definitely adds up to the price plus at first could look like either tips or service charges but they are not, service charges(tips) almost always extra except if you have a breakfast in your stay tips (15%) included in the breakfast charge. No need to worry about quality of the bed accessories pillows, blankets, mattresses are all first grade, down and feather, high quality cotton feels great and up to the hotel level. Also must admit even this building is an old Chateau all plumbings are great water hot and water pressure was not a problem at all, all bathroom accessories top grade and fine brands. building is quite tall and I could imagine that it has quite a number of room however we had never wait for elevator which was also a plus. On the down side is TV program selection which is quite poor for English speaking population, pay per view is there but will cost you some buck, it says $16.99 but when you will check out don't forget about those double taxes which will make your order cost $20, plus if you want to access to the internet it says
$ 16.99 but it will cost you $20 (taxes) for each 24 Hr anyway I am not complaining just letting someone to know what to expect. All above mentioned price polices have not changed my decision to stay at the Fairmont again cause hands down this is probably the best place to stay in town so they price accordingly. Just one example we ordered one night a dinner for three to the room, look, they brought everything what we order food was top restaurant quality nicely served, like a fine restaurant table in our room all silverware, big plates, tall glasses it was no doubt nice experience. One more mention about stuff very friendly from porter to receptionist everyone were just great. Don't want to finished review on the low note but but truth must be served ONE weak spot in the Fairmont Chateau is a Spa Facility they do have a nice indoor pool very convenient bright and looks new but the steam rooms showers area and massage rooms are are bad ..... it feels like a truckers motel level shower and steam room attached to this great hotel. Old misty, dark, some spots of black mold, horrible old and odd depressing colors tiles, only two showers stalls , steam room also very old and stinky these all were strange for me and for my girls who were particularly expected something nice and comfy after day on the slopes and cold winter outside. Anyway bright note at the end if you want to order massage you still can do that, cause even surroundings of the spa facility not up to hotel level, people do make a difference, massage therapist was just amazing true professional. Thanks !
