“Decent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Stayed here 2 nights and found it to be a decent hotel.
- Hotel was quiet (close to get to main roads but far enough from the vehicle noises)
- Room was nice with modern look (industrial look with concrete wall + ikea type furniture)
- Bed was good
- Pillow was too soft but that's a personal thing
- Free breakfast was decent (toast, bagel, creton, jam, hard boiled eggs, cheese, yogurt, cereal, milk)
- Coffee was also decent but cups were very tiny
- No restaurant on location but there is a mall across the street and restaurants around
- Didn't go in pool but it's small. You won't be doing laps in there.
- A car to go around the area is best

Overall, I'd stay there again.

“All good, aside from the radiators”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

I recently stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for a business trip. As you walk in, the lobby area is beautiful (trying to mimic a NYC boutique hotel) and the front desk staff is friendly (and they speak English.)

I went up to my room and it was very clean; however, once I tried to adjust the heat in the room, there was a smell of burning. I realized the heater was spewing out cold air no matter which combination I chose from the wall-mounted controls. I slept with the heat off for the night, as I (like most people) cannot sleep with cold air blowing on me. The 2nd night, it was to go down to zero so I had to figure out the control. I called downstairs and they gave me the "Bill Gates solution" (turn it off and on again.) This; however, did not work and I slept with no heat for the 2nd night, thankfully it didn't get too cold.

They have a lovely continental breakfast in the morning with fruit, bagels, english muffins, preserves, peanut butter, fresh fruit juices, good coffee, etc. Just what you need to start your day!

And if you are looking for room service, there is none offered by the hotel, but they have a large book with flyers from mostly restaurants in Galeries de la Capitale (a nice shopping mall across the street.) Would highly, highly recommend the mushroom and onion poutine from Salvatore's pizza- delivered right to your room!!

“Nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

I choose this hotel based on the reviews of others and wasn't disappointed.
Pros:
• hotel is in a nice area
• great front desk service
• close to shopping (mall right across)
• attractive lobby with a lovely fireplace
• breakfasts are included
• super fast elevators
• quiet rooms
• good beds
• easy to adjust room temperature

Cons
• the location is out of the way and you need a car if you stay here
• breakfast is over by 9:30 a.m. on weekdays so if you want to sleep in, no brekie
• no restaurant

“Great, except for the styrofoam!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

We stayed at Grand Times late September 2011. Modern, great rooms, clean. For the price, it was a great hotel, except for the styrofoam dishes provided with the included breakfast. It was so cheap that it melts when you put a hot toast in it! I would expect much better from a 4 star hotel. That is why I only give a note of 3.

“Convenient - still disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Good location; price was a good value ($125 per night), but this hotel have a big identity crisis - it is NOT a Boutique Hotel. They are trying very hard to mislead visitors with their "faux chic" and "faux trending" lobby... But once you passed that, you realized you are in hotel like Best Western or Holiday Inn.

Service and staff courtesy is at best "average"; yes they offer breakfast, with toast, mini travel sized industrial made jam, orange juice made from powder and coffee that make you declare Tim Hortons, "gourmet coffee"... Sure they advertised espresso available at the front desk.... For 4,95$ - highway robbery !!!

Ok, the lobby is interesting: nice fire place - but they should have invest less there and more in their rooms...

As for the room: mattress are too firm; there is no safety deposit box; no mini fridge; a plastic shower tub with a cheap shower faucet and below average pressure... And the AC, inefficient, noisy and VERY SMELLEY ... yuck.

If you are looking for a trendy boutique hotel, it is NOT the place; for one night value hotel: probably.

Shopping mall across the street and easy access from highway are probably their best features...
