“Central location, Comfortable Beds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

We were in town for a concert and stayed here for 3 nights. The room was very small, but clean, and suited our purposes as we were sightseeing during the day and just needed a place to sleep at night. The room includes television, hair dryer, and towels. There was complimentary breakfast, which is just toast, cereal, juice, coffee and tea...good enough for a bite before starting your day. There was also free wifi, which ran smoothly. Most sites and shopping are within walking distance (we went everywhere on foot, except for the Biodome). Centre Bell, the concert venue, was only 3 blocks away. We were very satisfied with our stay and would definitely go back again for future trips to Montreal.

“Find another hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

We stayed here one night because it was close to the train station. We had booked online, and the shabby, unloved reception area and disorganised checkin (our room was not ready at 4.30 pm) gave us immediate misgivings. These were allayed when we were shown to our room, which was small but clean, with comfortable furnishings. We settled in, only to find the bathroom sink did not drain. So we were moved to another room, after being shown an alternative that was still not made up (I had terminal sense of humour failure by this stage). We ate in the restaurant -- an Indian buffet, obviously very popular with locals, especially families -- and then headed for bed. It might have been a good night's sleep but for the air con unit, which behaved like a badly-tuned tractor all night ... just as I was dropping off, it would rev back into action. To crown the experience off, breakfast was supposed to be served at 8.30 am -- just enough time to grab some before heading back to the station for our train. Except the manager didn't turn up till almost 9 am. I couldn't wait to get out of the place.

“Disappointing.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

We booked this at the border tourist information stop and from the photos, it looked cosy and the price was reasonable for this time of year, we thought. And it had a 3 star rating. The room was very small, but adequate but we thought for the price, there should be towels in the bathroom, and a couple of glasses in the room. All were supplied but we had to ask for them at the front desk. Also, there were three body lotion bottles, but no shampoo or conditioner. The breakfast was pathetic - a piece of bread that you had to toast, no butter and just jam. A jar of warm orange juice was available, bowls but no cereal or milk. I have no idea how this became a 3 star hotel. The bed was surprising comfortable, considering everything else that was wrong. As we were leaving a man was complaining about being woken up by a call about a car - see an earlier review.

“You get what you pay for”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

This hotel was in a great location and had very affordable rates($109/night)in the summer which is main tourist time. Service was ok , they gave us free internet which is apparently $9.99 a day otherwise.

Not to say that the stay wasnt enjoyable but you do get what you pay for!! couple of things to keep in mind:

-Small rooms
-Very basic (small tv, no coffee maker, no alarm clock etc.)
-I dont recommend and I never will again use the parking behind the hotel.
(see below)

On the up side:

-Continenal breatfast
-Friendly staff
-Clean room and bed
- Nice historic Building
- Hotel has only 30 rooms so nice intimate feeling
-Great Location in downtown and close to metro

The parking lot behind the building works with the hotel. So you park, go check-in and pay $12 a day (which isnt outrageous for this area of downtown) and they will give you a pass to put on your car. However we were told that when we check out on Sunday we could leave the car in the lot until we were ready to leave the city.

Unfortunately this did not work to design. Everytime I went to my car to get something even on saturday during the day (we were leavin on sunday) the attendant hounded us that we must leave at 12 on Sunday. Even though we knew we could keep the car there until desired to leave. This again happened to us on Sunday at check out time(12 noon)
the attenant abruptly told us that we must "leave now". This made us have to return to the hotel to straighten this up and and allow us to leave our car in the lot free of charge until WE wanted to leave.

I would recommend parking in a different lot ( there are many close to the hotel for the same or cheaper price) and avoid this unpleasant experience!!

“BEWARE OF BEDBUGS!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we received rude service. The guy at the front desk was rude and made errors with our reservations. To make things worse, I was bitten by bedbugs for 2 nights and finally after realizing that they were bedbugs and not mosquito bites, we complained to the front desk and the same rude guy told us that no one else has complained about bedbugs and I showed him my arm and said "what do you think this is? Do you think we are making it up? Does my arm look ok to you??? He wouldn't give us a refund and at first told us they had no more rooms available. After arguing with him for 15 minutes, he finally said he had rooms available and tried to give us a small room, with a smaller bed. We spend an HOUR trying to get another room. Now, I don't know if the bedbugs have travelled with me back to my home, but I would NOT recommend anyone go to this hotel!!!
