“A Great B&B in the Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

The Alexandre Logan was a wonderful place to stay. Alain was a terrific host, and the staff was pleasant.

We stayed in no. 6, the only guest room on the first floor. The room and accompanying bathroom were recently renovated, so everything was fresh and clean. Especially the bathroom. You know how sometimes you don't especially relish the thought of bathing when you’re on vacation, even though you know the shower or tub is perfectly clean? You can see the wear and tear and then you start to imagine the dirty feet that have stood there before you? Well, this was not the case with the Alexandre Logan. It made me want to do a better job cleaning our bathroom at home. Another highlight was the mattress, which enveloped us in its exquisite softness each night, as well as the linens, which were high thread count and wonderfully simple. Prior to arrival, we were concerned about privacy, because no. 6 is directly off the breakfast room, as well as the blue wall color. However, neither turned out to be an issue.

Speaking of breakfast, as many other reviewers have noted, it was delicious: juice and coffee/tea followed by the dish of the day. We especially enjoyed the smoked salmon and the Montreal-style bagel. The breakfast room itself was quaint and pleasant, and not at all stressful, even if you are not someone who enjoys company in the early morning hours.

Other communal areas include the upstairs living room and the deck, which overlooks the street (a common feature of Montreal architecture). We didn't spend time in the living room, aside from some minor ironing, but we did enjoy an evening or two on the deck. It was very pleasant, though it is directly off one of the rooms, so unless you happen to be staying in that room, you'll want to be mindful of your noise.

As far as location goes, if you are open to staying in the Village, then this is a good place to be. It’s just off the main road, and the walk to the Metro (maybe 10 minutes?) is well lit and teaming with pedestrians, bars, and restaurants. There was also a bike rental spot down the block.

“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

After all the years of talking about it, we finally visited Montreal at the end of August. We were coming from the US and our GPS didn't work in Canada so we got really lost. By the time we reached Alexandre Logan, we were beyond tired. Once we stepped over the threshold of the inn, however, we were set. Our luggage was in our room in record time and from then on we were very well taken care of. The room was spacious with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The breakfast was superb, prepared with attention to our individual diatery needs. I have only superlatives for the place and especially Alain, the owner, who is fantastic!

“Great location, excellent breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

In a nice brick house, the b&b was a memorable start for our Canadian trip. The owner provided us with very useful information and plus his breakfast was excellent, tasteful and prepared with much attention. The room was spacious and calm, there even was a microwave and some kusmi tea at our disposal. Thanks !

“Quaint, tastefull, wonderful B&B accomodations in Montreal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Right in the heart of The Village, and just blocks from Parc La Fontaine, Beaudry metro, and the Quartier Latin, Alexandre Logan is a wonderful choice for Montreal accommodations.
Owner, Alain Pigeon, has beautifully restored the home, which currently offers 6 spacious and tastefully decorated rooms for guests.
Room 3 is my favorite, a junior suite, with direct access to the large outside terrasse. The suite includes a private WC, with a seperate claw tub located in the large bedroom. Wood paneling throughout.
Of course visiting Montreal is best out of the winter months, but even during the winter season, Alexandre Logan is a b&b full of charm, comfort, and near 4 star luxury accommodations. ( Montreal is best in early October, just as the leaves start to change. )
The radios and TV could use replacing, but from the comfortable beds, to the sumptous lounge furniture, to the hard wood floors, crown moldings, wood paneling, Alexandre Logan is the best place to stay when visiting Montreal, but itching to feel more like a local.
The stay includes a breakfast tailored to your tastes, so again this B & B goes above and beyond the ordinary, and believe me, you will go back again and again. I have. 4 times now.

Room Tip: Rooms 1, 2 and 3 are all wonderful choices.

“What A Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Our daughter booked this as a place for the four of us (her mother and husband included) to stay for a short break in Montreal. A good central location in the "Village" area only a short walk in to the city centre, though some of the shops along the way are a little run down, well served by the local metro being situated between two stops a short walk away. Alain was an excellent host and made us all most welcome to his home, he could not do enough for us, including a full briefing on what to see and where to go. The four of us shared a bathroom but we knew this before we arrived and it was no problem, his other rooms are en-suite. It is set in an old town house but was well decorated and clean, rooms were service whilst guests were served breakfast. The public sitting room was good with unlimited internet access and free local phone calls. Breakfasts were excellent, something different every day, and certainly nothing you would expect which added to the enjoyment of the place. In the nicest sense this is a "quirky" B & B and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wishing to visit the city. Very regrettably, Alain could not organise the weather and we got a little damp during our stay.
