“boutique hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Walk to the Notre Dame Basilica, the super hip shops and galleries at Rue St. Paul, subway at Square Victoria. Modern room (we had standard king), comfy bed, nice bamboo (?) floors are always better and more sanitary than carpet. Great to had PC in the room with free WiFi and a small fridge to store your goods. Good coffee but otherwise basic breakfast fare. Two minor things: wish there was easier control of the heated bathroom floors; and we could hear our neighbors next door - not conversation, but more like "thug" sounds - luggage being dropped on the floor maybe, closet doors banging, not exactly sure. But for what we paid we'd stay here again!

Room Tip: The King room is spacious - but we are from New York where everything tends to be small!

“Great for the price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The great location, sandwiched between St. Catherine and Old Montreal, close to Place d'Armes metro stop and underground city access, made this the perfect hotel for our stay. Using this as a home base we got to see everything we wanted to, even in snowy and cold January.

The price (we went through expedia and got a 40% discount) was super low for the quality of the hotel. Our room was clean and very large, with a fairly comfortable king bed. The walk-in tile shower and heated floor in the bathroom were excellent. The digital thermostat was great and in a cold Montreal winter it was nice to be able to crank the heat! The service was friendly and bi-lingual.

There's an included breakfast, but it wasn't that good. A few cereal options, some yogurt and toast, along with an automated coffee machine that makes watery lattes.

“NEVER AGAIN!!!!!”

The hotel is very beautiful but I have received the worst service ever. First of all, I had a hard time getting my laggage in the door. The person at the desk did make eye contact and did not offer any help. she prefered her reading. Thank's for a stranger passing by. I go to my room. Second, I make a reservation for a queen size bed room and then they changed it for a 2 double bed. They make me, without offering any help, go take my luggage out and bring it to the other room. Third, the cleaning person broke my prescription glasses. And the last but not least, a young guy working at the front desk was the rudest person I ever met. He was rude to me and the person next to me at the front desk.

“Convenient & Modern”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Clean and modern hotel. Walk-in ceramic tile shower. Heated tile floor in bathroom. Wood flooring, no carpet, throughout rest of room. Spacious room with all amenities including a fridge and free wifi. Selve-serve breakfast included has breads, cereal, beans, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheese, coffees ... a healthy start. Very quiet during my 3 night stay. A real bargain.

“French Gem - Will Return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Dauphin Downtown Montreal early November 2011 for two nights. I will stick to the basics for this review, even though it is a bit late.

Parking - though there is parking available at the hotel, there was no room for our vehicle (I believe they only have 6 or 7 spots) so we were directed to park at the Congress Centre underground for $24 per 24 hours with no in and out privileges. We were able to park in front of the hotel to unload our stuff to our room. The parking is on the next block and more convenient than we originally thought. And it's quite nice to walk through the Congress Centre. Definitely not a set back as everything was within walking distance to the hotel.

Rooms - Our room was immaculate. A king size bed with updated linens, comfy pillows, a large bar fridge and a large electronic safe that was easy to use. We also had a side table with a leather chair and a desk with a chair. There was a large enough dresser that also served as the TV stand. The television was modern with DVD player. On the nightstand was an iPod dock/alarm clock which was a nice surprise. The bathroom is also updated, a bit small but the shower stall was large and there was enough counter space for all of my feminine necessities. Definitely sufficient for the two of us.

The breakfast included boiled eggs, Fairmount sesame and plain bagels, white and brown bread (with ample toasters), yogurt, apples, bananas, cheese, peanut butter, jam, cream cheese, cereal, juice, milk, tea and the awesome espresso machine for specialty hot beverages (lattes and cafe au laits).

The area is great and within walking distance of the main shopping areas, the old town and Chinatown. The staff is friendly and courteous and were great with offering suggestions for local restaurants.

We will definitely stay at this hotel again as we often visit Montreal.
