“"Couldn't fault a thing"”

The Le Ralais Lyonnais was everything you look for in a hotel, clean, excellently located, reasonably priced, and everything you hope you're going to get.
Excellent service from friendly but not intrusive staff also helped to make staying here for the three nights we did perfect. The owner and his staff were happy to go above and beyond even liaising with another hotel for us where we had mistakenly left an item and where struggling with out French.
It is also well worth taking them up on the breakfast option as the food in the cafe downstairs is lovely and you aren't restricted to a small section of the menu.
The location of this hotel was perfect for us, as we were able to take in some amazing Jazz in the same street, and get to the Bell Centre to watch the Hockey very easily as the hotel is on all but one of the subway lines.
Our room was perfect, large modern bathroom with a very lovely shower, and a very comfy bed.
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

Great location with many eateries just beside the hotel, conveniently located a stone throw away from the metro.. Rooms are old but clean. Service is excellent with free upgrade to suite for honeymooners and complimentary wifi and breakfast! The only thing is that the room is overlooking st Dennis and is very active and noisy at night. Try avoid rooms that are facing the main street for goodnight sleep.

Room Tip: Avoid room facing main street!

“exceeded my expectations”

I was upgraded to a suite on my arrival for no additional charge; the room was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Free wifi. Includes breakfast at the cafe downstairs, which is quite good. Very helpful and friendly staff. This is a small, independent hotel with a vastly different feel from your typical chain hotel, a bit more like a B&B or small studio apartment. It is located in a vibrant neighborhood, so it is ideal for independent and/or young travelers who want to be able to walk down the street at 11 PM and still be able to get a beer and a bite to eat. For some it might be a bit too vibrant: can be a bit noisy at night, and the neighborhood is a tad sketchy, but didn't feel unsafe (for a big city). Probably not right for everyone, but I could have happily stayed for weeks. . .

“Amazing boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

The hotel is almost hidden amongst the shops lining rue St Denis. We drove past it unknowlingly and had to navigate around one-way streets back to the hotel. Rue St Denis is quite busy so can be tricky to find parking when first checking-in. I was in a bit of a panic when checking-in as we were parked illegally and had 4 large bags plus hand luggage which we needed to offload to the room. The front desk attendant was very calming and helped in offloading the car with our bags before directing my partner to the parking lot around the corner. Whilst waiting for my partner to return, the front desk attendant was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in answering my queries regarding the local area.

The building is a converted house which has been tastefully renovated. We stayed in room 302, on the third/top floor which has a large courtyard. The room itself was quite spacious with a seperate living area, a bedroom and a large bathroom with a double shower, a heater and fan. The room was fitted with modern furnishings and heaters in the different living zones. The windows were able to be opened and appear to be double glazed, keeping the warmth in and the noise out.

The rooms are very clean, the cleaner did an outstanding job and has great attention to detail - she even folded my pj's!

The location was great, close to the train station, shops, restaurants, old Montreal and hospital.
Unfortunately my partner experienced extreme food poisioning the last night we were there and was rushed to hospital. Fortunately everything was ok an he was sent home a few hours later. The following morning the owner of the hotel gave me a call to check on us. He was extremely compassionate and understanding and told us to take our time on checking out and even offered to cook up fresh rice for my partner to eat so not to upset his sensitive stomach. I appreciated the support from the staff at Le Relais Lyonnais.

Our stay was great, wish we spent a few more days at this wonderful hotel!

“Great little quaint hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Stayed in the third floor balcony suite, was a little smaller than I expected and the stairs were a little much, but Albert and this cafe made the stay worth it. It was a little bit of a project getting all of our luggage in and out as parking is difficult in front of the hotel, but the staff was very helpful. The rooms were very modern, although compact and had a European feel, particularity the balcony. The cafe downstairs is wonderful, very authentic and the included breakfast is great. The neighborhood is not bad, it is a residential/college area with many restaurants nearby. Albert goes out of his way to be accommodating. It is a great little quaint hotel if you need to stay in the area or are going to a show at the St. Denis Theatre that is right across the street. I heard no noise at night.
