We spent 5 nights in the 2 bed apartment last August. Francois was waiting for us as our taxi arrived at the B&B - we couldn't have had a friendlier welcome after a long transatlantic flight! In all respects Francois was a great host - very warm and helpful with endless suggestions for days out, advice on transport, restaurants, etc. The apartment was a good size, tastefully decorated, clean, modern and had all the amenities we could have asked for. The park opposite, Parc Lafontaine, was gorgeous and we could have spent a day or two in the park with our two young children, exploring the different venues. However, there were two small drawbacks that stop me from giving this B&B a 5. There is a bus stop directly outside the B&B, but the nearest Metro station is some distance away. Also, there are two fairly long flights of stairs to reach the apartment from street level. I mention this as we had a fair bit of stuff to carry, traveling as we were with two small children. But overall we were very happy there. We would be happy to go back, and would recommend this to friends.

It was our first time in Montreal and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Francois, the location, the neighborhood, the green park right across the street, the reserved parking spot, we really felt like locals.
My mom and I spent a total of 3 nights there, the first two nights in the two-bedroom/ two-bath apartment which was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated, the wall arts were amazing. And although we had to move into a B&B room, #5 on the last night (because that's how the reservation was made), the large bedroom, the spacious bathroom, and the breakfast made up for it. We were healthy people so the many stairs to walk up to the apartment did not bother us, that is something to consider if one has a mobility issue.
We only have praises for the owner, Francois, who made us feel welcome from the start in the city. He was always available, and gave us important information about the best ways to get around the city, maps, where to park to do sightseeing, suggested eating on Duluth St with tons of restaurants to choose from, nothing was ever too much for him to oblige.
We really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back there when I visit Montreal again. The special attention we got there would have been really difficult to get from staying at a hotel. I am a fan.

I debated whether to rate this inn excellent or very good, but we stayed at Le Terra Nostra as well, and that inn is far more spacious than Chez Francois.
On the other hand, Chez Francois is very nicely located on the edge of Parc La Fontaine, and Francois keeps the place impeccable. It is not particularly close to the Metro, but if one has a car, it is an ideal base for seeing Montreal.

A very nice B&B on the east side of Montreal... it was close to my daughters apartment and convenient for us to visit. A staircase to the 2nd floor might make this hard for a senior or someone not able to do stairs. We loved it and Nicole was the best!
