We stayed during the summer, as a romantic retreat. This was the first time either of us had ever stayed in a B&B, but we were very pleased with Le Plumard.
Perhaps the most helpful observation I can make is that the place lived up very well to the images and descriptions presented on its website. The rooms were tidy and refreshingly uncluttered, furnished with good taste and with calm lighting. The sitting room and balcony were both good places to relax between activities. Most importantly for us, the level of cleanliness was extremely high, even better than many hotels. There was absolutely nothing to fear in the bathroom.
The sitting area and kitchenette were thoughtfully equipped with most things you might want, such as an iron and ironing board, reading material, plates, glasses, and eating utensils. We had our own wine, and were easily able to borrow stemmed glasses and a corkscrew. (Some restaurants in Plateau Mont-Royal also invite guests to bring their own wine.)
The neighborhood is peaceful. There is a good supermarket on the way from the metro station, and also an intriguing sandwich deli, but alas it was closed when we went to try it.
Louise, the hostess, was very accommodating, and an excellent cook. We had only two small quibbles about the breakfast. While the menu on the website seems to suggest that there is a wide range of choice for the breakfast (i.e. cooked-to-order), a more accurate description would be that Louise chooses one main dish (eggs / crepes / French toast / ...) from her repertoire to serve each morning, along with one or two well-matched side dishes (fruit, yogurt, ...). The breakfasts are really quite nice, but picky eaters, like me, would be wise to mention their preferences when they arrive. On some days we also wished the portions had been slightly more generous.
Our favorite memory is of borrowing Louise's bicycles and riding to the Biodome, where we watched the king penguins getting snubbed repeatedly by the other smaller penguins. We also searched a long time, unsuccessfully, for the sloth.
