“would go back in a heartbeat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2007

Our host Kenny was most gracious and was simply marvelous. My mom, our friend and I stayed in the le Provecale room and were amazed at how well appointed it was and beautifully decorated. Kenny is the new proprietor and has made many updates. There are hardwood floors throughout, the furniture is antique or reproduction, the beds are soft and comfy. The bathroom was nice and clean and there were fresh towels daily. The breakfast was quite good and there were several choices of cheese, fresh croissants, various danishes, mixed fresh fruit, cold cereal and a couple of choices of meat. The coffee was great and each room has its own table downstairs in the lovely dining area. The parc la Fontaine is diagonally across the street, and it is a couple of blocks north of the Village and Latin Quarter and Mont Royal is a short ride away. There is a small parking space behind the building and ample street parking (between certain hours). There is a small sandwich shop across the street (coffee to die for and terrific croissants) but most of the restaurants are located closer to rue St. Denis to the west. I did not use the metro while I was there but it appears to be situated close to a station. I highly recommend au Chateau du Parc and would stay there again without question.

  • Liked — Our host Kenny was amazing and the bedroom was beautiful.
  • Disliked — there was a little bit of a language barrier with our Host but nothing significant and there was an english speaker in his employ

“Charm and hospitality in Montreal”

I stayed at this lovely B&B two years ago, and just got off the phone with Chantal, the owner, to make a reservation for this summer. My husband, son, and I had a wonderful time as Chantal's guests--we truly felt like guests, not just paying customers.

Our double-bedded room was spacious, clean, and comfy, with a private bath. Breakfasts were simple, yes, with coffee, fruit, croissants or whole grain bread, cereal, and juice, but we weren't looking for the "American plan," just a bright start to the day, which is what we received.

The neighborhood is a busy residential area. We spent a fun afteroon in the park down the street, and sampled restaurants in the neighborhood. Except for a trip out to the Insectarium, we left our car out back and used the subway--about blocks away.

I am so looking forward to another visit to Chantal's lovely home.

“Dissapointed with Breakfasts served”

We stayed 5 days in this bread and breakfast.
The host was very nice, and the room was well appointed, however the breakfast was dissapointing, with only cresecents, and jelly, hard boiled eggs, one morning yogurt and bread, orange juice, and coffee, but no hot meals.
The breakfast was less than a common hotels continental breakfast, and we ended up going out to eat most mornings after juice and coffee.
I read the reviews before staying here and they seemed great, but the breakfast was poor and we would probably think twice before staying in a bread and breakfast after this, and ask about the breakfast in detail before booking next time.
I have stayed at other bread and breakfasts where the breakfast was superb, but here breakfast was extremely dissapointing...

“Charming hostess”

We stayed 4 nights at this B&B and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean and well-appointed with a very large bathroom & walk-in closet (in the bathroom, oddly).

Madame is lovely and talked to us in French & English about a variety of topics at breakfast. She is a charming hostess and clearly enjoys that part of her work!

Location is convenient to many parts of Montreal and has easy access to 2 different metro stops. Highly recommended; we would stay there again.

“clean, quiet, comfortable B&B convenient to downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2005

Spent 5 nights at this B&B. It is not luxurious, but very attractively and artistically decorated. House is 100 years old with wonderful woodwork. Most rooms have their own bath. Proprietress is a warm and interesting person, and speaks excellent English as well, of course, as French. Many, many outstanding restaurants within walking distance. Next to a park-- near the edge of the Quartier Latin, just south of the Plateau. Very safe. About 4 blocks' walk to the Metro-- takes just a few minutes to get downtown. Or to Old Montreal for touristing.

This was my first visit to Montreal, and as a woman traveling alone, I was concerned for safety. But I also did not want to stay in yet another cookie-cutter, corporate chain hotel. This B&B worked out very well. I recommend this B&B for business travelers who may be attending a conference or meetings downtown. It gets you out of the "anonymous hotel chains" and into the "real" Montreal, so you get a feel for the charms of this unique city while you are conducting your business. TIP: consider contacting the B&B directly rather than going through an outside agency.
