This hotel is really dirty, they charge you too much and they hardly offer you any service. They didn't even changed the sheets or cleaned the bathroom once in a whole week. I believe this hotel is a facade, they don't keep any administration nor they give you a receipt and all payments must be made in cash. The hotel brochure states that they have breakfast, internet, laundry service etc etc all of which is not true. This is the biggest scam in Montreal. Don't be fooled by the lobby it looks ok but the rooms and service are horrible and they charge you way too much!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. A few highlights to add to the smells and sounds mentioned in the previous review:

When we arrived, the clerk informed that the credit card machine was broken and said he hoped we had cash. He directed us to the adjacent store (owned by the hotel) where we could get money off a credit card.

The next day, we returned to the hotel to find that the same clerk had moved our things from to another room without our permission. The room he had booked us in for 2 nights was actually booked for someone else that day. When we arrived at the hotel, he asked if we would do him a favor and switch rooms. He said that if the boss found out about his mistake, he would be fired. He went on about only having worked there for a week, being confused, etc.

The next morning, we learned there was no taxi called as the clerk had promised the night before. We also learned that the clerk who consistently provided such horrible service was the son of the hotel owner.

Nice scam.

DO NOT stay at the Hotel de Kais. IMHO, I actually think its a brothel. After making reservations for a non smoking room with a Queen size bed and getting a stinky smokey room with 2 single beds, we stayed up all night listening to all the other people who had rooms around us. It was like everyone was making a porno that night. The room was so smokey that our suitcases actually needed to be aired out when we got home. The hotel refused to give us our money back, and it absolutely ruined the last day of our trip to Quebec. We should have called the Cops but we were too tired to get into it with anyone. We just wanted to get the hell out of there.
