“I wanted my money back.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2011. The reason for the stay is that I live in downtown Montreal and wanted to spend the night somewhere quieter away from all the excitement.

I rated my stay so low because the buzzing coming from the big electric station directly next to the side of the hotel where my room was located was so loud I didn't sleep a wink and I was wearing earplugs. Yes, it was that loud! To be fair I do have sensitive hearing, but while watching TV I had to turn the volume to the highest setting to hear it over the noise. I complained to the receptionist who came up to my room and told me he couldn't hear anything. Are you kidding??!! He offered to move me to another room but unfortunately none were free on the other side of the hotel. So, I tossed and turned all night before calling it quits and checking out at 5:30am. My ears were actually aching, and I couldn't leave fast enough.

The hotel was nice enough in most other aspects. The hotel was practically right next door to the metro - super convenient. Free parking and free wireless internet were also perks. Just make sure to ask to stay on the street side of the hotel in order to avoid the buzzing problem. And you'll have to bring your own fan for white noise during the winter as the AC unit that also includes the fan is turned off.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the side of the hotel with the electric station!!

“Good hotel, for the price.”

My boyfriend I just got back from this hotel. We stayed from Friday December 30th,2011 to Sunday January 1, 2012. The hotel is located about 15 minute drive from downtown. We arrived at about 4pm and since we were tired we just decided to eat near the hotel and do some shopping. Directly across the street there is a sports bar, "Le Cage Aux Sport" ... excellent food. There is a large, well known mall attached to the bar . IT IS HUGE. Seeing as boxing day had just passed, we found lots of deals :) .

Saturday evening we ate dinner at the restaurant in the lobby, it was surprisingly the best food we had eaten throughout our entire trip.
Although the standard rooms arent anything fancy, they were comfortable for the amount of time we actually spent in our room.

if you are unsure as to getting downtown, turn left out of the parking lot of the hotel& follow that street (sherbrooke) all the way down . University street has underground parking and it a 2 minute walk to the entrance for the underground city. The largest underground shopping center.

“It met our needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We were looking for an affordable room with convenient location, this hotel met our needs perfectly.
Location: Subway station and bus station right in front of the hotel; A shopping mall within 1 minute walking distance, you can do grocery shopping there if needed; Quite close to Biodome and Botanic Garden.
The room: We booked a standard family room but were upgraded to deluxe family room for free. The room is clean and nicely furnished. Outdoor swimming pool, free breakfast and free parking also available.
Overall: It's a great choice for the price.

“Netheir Royal nor Prince but average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

The name Royal Versailles is certainly misleading. Forgo any expectations of sumptuous amenities and be willing to accept decent lodging comfort in a very good location, east of the city centre. The included continental breakfast is a welcome touch.
But you will never meet Marie-Antoinette here.

“Very bad; indifferent unprofessional stuff.”

The rooms are old, paint falls off in some places. There is a sewage problem - the room was stinking. The stuff didn't seem to know anything beyond where the rooms are located. They didn't have a map of Montreal (what hotel wouldn't have a map of their city for tourists???!!!), didn't know the number of the lobby!!! The waitresses in the restaurant didn't give us instructions as to how the coupons worked, didn't provide a good service.
The worst was how they dealt with my noise complaint. We were unlucky enough to have booked our stay at the same time as a bunch of American teenagers did. That's an issue in nature. They were so loud all night long! And the little security couldn't help, he just told me that they were "children". Like I care who makes the noise! So the second of the two nights I couldn't sleep at all. When we were checking out, other people were complaining about the noise too.
Beware, normal people!!! As for the "night animals" and wild crowds, this hotel is all that you need ;)
