Come into the hotel knowing that you get what you pay for, and it's not so bad; especially if you're not planning to spend the day in your room.
One bad point is that the hotel itself is in kind of a sketchy area that extends for two or three blocks around the place. Depending on where your room is, you may have homeless people living right outside your window. Several days in a row I saw cars with smashed out windows parked outside the place (There's no free parking here, and you'll have to be lucky to get a place on the street anywhere close).
On the upside, there didn't seem to be any real danger. You're pretty close to both Rue Sherbrooke and St. Catherine's Street here, and there's plenty of people. The hotel is near the Places-Des-Arts métro station, and there's plenty of nightlife in the area.
As for the rooms themselves, it's bare-bones. They basically give you beds, a TV, some towels, and that's it. But if you're not expecting a whole lot, one can make do.
