“Spacious and friendly”

Just returned from 3 days/nights in Montreal. We're regular B&B people, and found this auberge to meet our needs perfectly. We like to do some easy exercises in the morning, and there was plenty of space for that (not always the case when rooms are tiny). Bath, too, was spacious (room 301). Comfy bed, real windows that open. No elevator for those who might need it.

Loved eating outside at the sidewalk terrace cafe each morning. On our day of arrival Christina made us breakfast as we dragged in from the airport at 9:00 a.m. (after getting up at 4 a.m.). Above and beyond since we hadn't spent the night. BEST yogurt in the world served there (local). Very tasty, generous breakfasts overall.

There's a bicycle rental (Ca Roule) just steps away. Good place, too. Biking is easy in Montreal with bike lanes all over. Hosts give good advice on where and how to go.

“Exceptional in so many ways!”

Our stay could not have been better! The room was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the port. Christina and Jim were so helpful with suggestions of things to do, without being intrusive. It was obvious that they were genuinely concerned that we were having a good time and finding everything we were looking for. The little things make a difference like umbrellas available in the lobby the day it was raining.
Centrally located in Old Montreal but one block off of the busy street makes for a quiet room and a good night's sleep.
Breakfast was fabulous, excellent choices, and included in the price of the room. Again, the service exceptional.
Christina and Jim make you feel like family, but much more welcome. I feel if we stayed anywhere else we would be cheating on them.
I can't wait to go back.

“Family on the harbor”

The hotel was in a great location...right in the old port. Very easy to walk to the restaurants(with lots of reccomendations from Christina). Parking was very easy. $20 a day at the pier. The room was very large with 2 queen beds. Bathroom was large and clean. Parents stayed with adult daughter and were comfortable. Wi-Fi internet. We had a view of the river and all of the activities going on outside. The breakfast in the morning was from 8-10 and had a large selection. Christina and her family were very nice and very helpful! We were in walking distance of everything including the metro. Only 2 blocks away from Notre Dame cathedral. Would stay there again!

“Great staff, great breakfast”

This is a great place to stay unless you need an elevator to your room. It is in a renovated historic brick and stone building on the riverfront. We parked across the street in the port parking facility for $20 a day. Our room and bathroom was very large and clean. The air conditioner kept the room cool in July. We had a great, complete breakfast each morning at the attached cafe next door and could sit on the sidewalk and watch the day go by. There were several menu choices included with the price of the room - pancakes, eggs, french toast, etc. The staff always asked how things were going and offered advice about Montreal sites. Since we spoke little or no French, the staff's willingness and ability to speak English was very, very welcome. Our room faced the alley and there was a little noise when the garbage was collected in the morning, but not really a problem unless you are super critical. If you want to be in the heart of the old town, have a great breakfast, a comfortable, large room and very friendly helpful service, this is the place.

“Highly recommended!”

Our stay at the Palace Royal was lovely! You can't beat the location and Christina & Jim (the owners) make you fell like part of the family. They can't do enough to make you feel at home. Breakfasts were very good with a selection of about 6 choices. The rooms were VERY SPACIOUS and immaculately clean. The family always has great recommendations for dining and siightseeing. We highly recommend it!
