“Nice hotel in downtown Montreal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

This is a nice hotel in downtown Montreal which is well maintained to Marriott standards. It is an older property with allot of rooms. It is convenient to shopping and dining albeit a little far from Old Montreal. That is just a few train stops away or a long walk on a nice day so it is really not a big problem. If you like to go out at night then Crescent Street is a few blocks away and it is always hopping on a weekend night with its bars, restaurants and clubs. This is overall a good property and a nice place to stay if visiting the wonderful city of Montreal. You can enjoy Montreal in the winter with its underground or get out in the summer when the people enjoy the outdoors and warm temperatures they have been waiting for all winter. Learn a little french to be able to be polite and use a cab and you will be warmly received. Being able to greet someone in French and ask them how they are in French goes a long way in this city. Be respectful and the respect will be returned to you. Most people in Montreal speak English but a proper greeting in French will be a friendly gesture that should be when visiting.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor for a good view of the surrounding area.

“The place to stay in Montreal,Canada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel for a week in February. What a wonderful hotel. Staff, service, accommodations, etc. nothing was too good for the guest. It's in a great location, with the subway downstairs from the lobby. You don't even have to go outside to get there. There's a Starbucks in the lobby also. Just up the street is the "night life" with dozens of great restaurants and pubs. It snowed every day we were there and was beautiful. Canadian people are so nice and friendly. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone going to Montreal.

Room Tip: we had a corner unit on a high floor. A beautiful view of the city.

“Unexpected Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I had to stop over in Montreal unexpectedly on New Year's Eve and was tired and had no desire to 'party' or be around others who were 'partying' and made my wishes clear at check in. I was given an (upgraded they said) room on the 30th floor with a superb view and a lovely layout (loved the huge oval window overlooking the city!). I ordered Room Service (very nice) and settled down for a nice quiet evening. However there was one nagging problem. The heat would not go down lower than 23C (almost 80F)! I called maintenace four times, and he did everything he could including opening all the little windows in the room (and it was cold out!) but it was all for naught. That heater just worked harder! The last time I called him at 4:45am and just asked him to bring up a fan as I couldn't take it any longer.
Not once was another room offered, which I found mystifying. Suffice it to say, I was in the gorgeous hotel and had a rotten, rotten night.
The next day I called the Front Desk Manager and explained what had happened and after she asked if I had been offered another room and my saying no, offered to give me the room at 1/2 price. It helped I admit, but it didn't help my exhaustion the next day, which was yet another travel day. Disappointed to say the least.

Room Tip: Rooms high up offer a beautiful view!
